About The Program

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India invites applications for Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Students 2018-19, Assam from students of class 11 and above. The scholarship is applicable for candidates who are the domiciles of Assam. Under this scheme, ST students studying at post-matriculation or post-secondary stage will be provided financial support to enable them to complete their education.

To be eligible for this scholarship, an applicant must-

  • Be studying in class 11 or above (pursuing recognised post-matric and post-secondary courses)
  • Have an annual family income not exceeding INR 2 lakh
  • Belong to Scheduled Tribe (ST) as specified in relation to the state of Assam
  • Be a domicile of Assam
  • Have passed matriculation or higher secondary examination from a recognised university or board
  • Not be holding any other scholarship/stipend

The following are also eligible for the scholarship-

  • Students studying through correspondence courses
  • Employed students on leave without pay for the entire duration of a full-time course
  • Students pursuing postgraduate courses in medicine if only they are not allowed to practice during the period of their course

Note: Students who have received coaching in any of the pre-examination training centres with financial assistance from the Government will not be eligible. Find more details here.

Benefits

The scholarship covers the following-

  • Fees for enrollment/registration, tuition, library, magazine, medical examination and other such fees
  • Charges for study tours up to a maximum of INR 1600 per annum
  • Thesis typing and printing charges up to a maximum of INR 1600 for the research scholars
  • Additional allowances up to INR 240 per month for ST students with disabilities
  • Assistance up to INR 7500 for setting up book banks
  • Maintenance allowance as mentioned below-
    • Students eligible under Group 1 will receive INR 1200 per month (hostellers) and INR 550 per month (day scholars)
    • Students eligible under Group 2 will receive INR 820 per month (hostellers) and INR 530 per month (day scholars)
    • Students eligible under Group 3 will receive INR 570 per month (hostellers) and INR 300 per month (day scholars)
    • Students eligible under Group 4 will receive INR 380 per month (hostellers) and INR 230 per month (day scholars)

Documents
  • A copy of the duly filled application in the prescribed form
  • A passport size photograph
  • Attested copies of all relevant certificates/diploma/degree in respect of examinations passed
  • Caste certificate signed by an authorised Revenue Officer
  • Income declaration certificate from the parents/guardians
How can you apply?

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through following steps -

Step 1: Click on New Student? Register Here.
Step 2: Select the state of domicile, select the name of the scholarship the student is applying for, select scheme type, write the name, date of birth, mobile number, gender, email ID.
Step 3: Provide the bank details (Bank name, IFS Code, Account Number).
Step 4: The mobile number will be verified and an OTP will be generated.
Step 5: Login using OTP and fill the form.
Step 6: An application ID and password will be generated. Use that for future references.

Note: All the applicants are advised to fill the form correctly, no changes can be made once submitted. The applicants are also advised to fill only one application as multiple applications will lead to the cancellation of the form.

  • The scholarship will be provided for studies in India only.
  • All the children of same parents/guardian can avail the benefits of this scholarship.
  • The income certificate will be taken only once which will be at the time of admission to the course.
  • The scholarship is provided on the basis of satisfactory progress and conduct of the scholars.
  • Applicants are requested to fill the application form online, with the correct and verifiable details only.
  • Funds provided under this scheme shall not be utilised for any other purpose.
  • The Government of India at its own discretion can change the provisions of this scheme any time.
