About The Program

Centrally Sponsored Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students, Manipur 2024-25 is an opportunity offered by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. It is implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and aims to help SC students from low-income families continue their higher education. Selected candidates will receive an academic allowance of up to ₹13,500 and other benefits.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian national
  • be a domicile of Manipur
  • belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category
  • have completed high school (Class 10) or higher secondary with a passing grade from a recognised University or Board of Education
  • have an annual family income of less than ₹2,50,000 during the previous financial year

Note:- 

  • Students who have already completed a stage of education in one subject cannot apply for the same stage in a different subject. For example, someone with an Intermediate Science degree cannot apply for an Intermediate Arts degree under this scheme. Similarly, a graduate with a B.Com or a postgraduate with an M.A in one subject cannot apply for another B.Com or M.A degree.
  • Students pursuing studies through accredited correspondence or online courses are eligible for the scheme. However, this applies only to courses offered by Central or State Universities through distant or continuous education programs. These students will be responsible for any non-refundable fees associated with their chosen program and will not receive an academic allowance.
  • A scholarship holder under this scheme cannot receive any other scholarship or stipend.
  • If awarded another scholarship or stipend, the student can choose the one that is more beneficial and must inform the awarding authority through the Head of the Institution.
  • The scholarship will be terminated from the date the student accepts another scholarship or stipend.
  • Students can still accept free lodging, grants, or ad-hoc monetary help from the State Government or other sources for books, equipment, or living expenses, in addition to the scholarship amount.
Benefits

The scholarship includes the following components for the complete duration of the course:- 

a) Compulsory non-refundable fees including tuition fees, as fixed by the fee fixation/rationalisation committee of the State Government

b) Academic allowance as follows:

Note:- 

  • Ten percent extra allowances shall be provided for Divyang students.
  • Students pursuing C.A. /I.C.W.A. /C.S. /I.C.F.A. will be treated as day scholars for academic allowance.
  • Students studying through correspondence/online courses will not be eligible for the academic allowance.
  • Students who are eligible for the scheme will be able to enroll in institutions without having to pay their tuition or dorm fees upfront. The state government will give eligible students a freeship card, which will allow them to study at the institution without paying any fees upfront. When the amount is transferred to the student's account, the institution will be informed and they will be able to collect the fees from the student.
Documents
  • A valid caste certificate issued by the competent authority in Manipur, confirming the applicant's SC status
  • A recent income certificate issued by the relevant government authority, verifying the annual family income
  • A domicile certificate 
  • Recent passport-sized photographs
  • A copy of the applicant's Aadhaar card
  • Copies of marksheets or certificates for all completed examinations, including high school (Class 10) and above
  • A copy of the admission letter or proof of enrollment in the current course
  • A copy of the applicant's bank passbook or account details for direct deposit of the scholarship amount
  • Any additional documents that may be specified by the scholarship authorities, such as a declaration of no other scholarship or stipend being received (if required)
How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below. 
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 4: Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Step 5: Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 6: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
Step 7: Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
Step 8: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. (Note:- This is a temporary registration number, students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.)
Step 9: After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
Step 10: Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.

Note:- All the applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form.  Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.

  • The provisions of this scheme can be changed at any time at the discretion of the Government of India.
  • If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statements, the candidate's scholarship will be cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered, at the discretion of the concerned State Government.
  • The student concerned will be blacklisted and debarred for scholarship in any scheme forever.
  • The decision on the age limit for admission as a regular student in different classes should be at the discretion of the concerned institutions.
  • All children of the same parent or guardian are eligible to receive benefits under this scheme.
  • The award once made will be payable up to the completion of the course subject to satisfactory academic performance and attendance of 75% in every academic year. The attendance will be verified through an Aadhaar-based attendance system.
  • The recipient is liable to refund the scholarship amount if the student discontinues the study for which the scholarship was originally awarded. 
  • Scholarship holders under this scheme cannot receive any other scholarships or stipends. If they are awarded another scholarship or stipend, they can choose which one to receive, whichever is more beneficial to them. They must inform the awarding authority of their choice through the Head of their Institution. Once they accept another scholarship or stipend, they will no longer receive the scholarship under this scheme. However, scholarship holders can still accept free lodging, grants, or ad-hoc monetary help from the State Government or any other source. This additional support can be used for the purchase of books, and equipment, or to cover the costs of board and lodging.
  • Students seeking a Freeship Card should register well in advance of their expected admission date. Registration takes place on the relevant scholarship portal, where students need to provide their Aadhaar number, the name of their desired course (e.g., MBBS, B.Sc., Class 12), and an undertaking to pay the institution's fees within 7 working days after receiving the scholarship amount. The portals for Freeship Card registration remain open year-round, ensuring students can register at their convenience.
  • The Freeship Card will be issued with specific details listed in Annexure-1 and will be digitally signed for authenticity. This card will be valid for one year from its issuance date and can be used by students for admission purposes during that period.
  • Students can conveniently change their chosen course before enrolling in an institution through the IT portal. Additionally, an updated Freeship Card will be automatically issued to all eligible students. 
  • In case of renewal students, there shall be no need for fresh registration for the Freeship card and a card once issued to him/her shall be valid for the entire duration of the course.

FAQ's

Question 1: Who can apply for the Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students, Manipur?
Answer:
Students fulfilling the below criteria can apply for the scholarship:

Answer:
No, scholarship holders cannot receive any other scholarship or stipend. If awarded another, you must choose the one that benefits you more and inform the awarding authority through your institution's Head.

Question 5: What does the scholarship cover?
Answer:
The scholarship covers non-refundable fees (tuition) fixed by the State Government and an academic allowance. The amount of the academic allowance varies based on the course category and whether the student is a hosteller or a day scholar. Students with disabilities (Divyang) receive an extra 10% allowance.
