About The Program

Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students, Delhi 2024-25 is a centrally-sponsored scholarship offered by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and managed by the Department of Welfare of SC/ST/OBC. The scholarship aims to provide financial help to students studying in Class 11 and onwards, helping them continue their education after high school (college/university). The selected students will receive a maintenance allowance of up to ₹13,500 and other benefits.

To be eligible, an applicant must:- 

  • be an Indian national
  • be domiciled in Delhi
  • belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category
  • be pursuing a post-matriculation or post-secondary course in a recognised institution/college/university (as specified in the terms & conditions section below)
  • have an annual family income of not more than ₹2,50,000 from all sources

Note:- 

  • The age limit for admission as a regular student in different classes will be determined by the respective institutions.
  • Candidates who are repeating the same stage of education in different subjects (e.g., I.Sc. after I.A. or B.Com. after a B.A. or pursuing an M.A. in a different subject after completing an M.A. in another subject) are ineligible.
  • Candidates pursuing their studies through correspondence courses are eligible to apply. However, this applies only to distance and continuous education offered by Central/State universities.
  • If a student is awarded two scholarships simultaneously, they can choose one and formally communicate their preference to the awarding authorities through their institution's Head.
Benefits

The selected students will receive the following awards:- 

  • Compulsory non-refundable fees including tuition fees as fixed by the fee/fixation rationalisation committee of the state government.
  • Academic allowance:

Group 1

1) Degree and postgraduate level courses in Medicine, Engineering, Technology, Planning, Architecture, Design, Fashion, Technology, Agriculture, Veterinary and Allied Sciences, Management, Business Finance/Administration, Computer Sciences and Applications.

2) Postgraduation diploma courses in various branches of Management and Medicine

3)C.A/I.C.W.A./C.S./I.C.F.A. etc.(Applicable at day scholar rate only ₹550 per month)

4)M.Phil., Ph.D. and Post-doctoral programmes (D.Lit., D.Sc. etc.), Group 1, Group 2, Group 3 courses

5)L.L.B, Integrated L.L.B and L.L.M.

Note:-

  • 10% extra allowances will be provided to disabled students.
  • Students pursuing CA/ICWA/CS/ICFA will be considered day scholars for academic allowances.
  • Students studying through correspondence or online courses will not be eligible for academic allowances.

Freeship Card:

As per the scheme guidelines, all eligible students are entitled to admission to the institutions without pre-payment of tuition fees and hostel fees. To avail of this benefit, a freeship card will be issued to eligible students by the state government.

Students with freeship cards can attend school without paying fees upfront. The institution will subsequently receive the fees directly from the scholarship funds.

Documents
  • A passport-sized photograph of the student
  • One attested copy of academic transcripts, including certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc.
  • A valid caste certificate duly signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO), not below the rank of Tehsildar
  • An income certificate for the parent(s)/guardian(s), issued by the authority as determined by the state government
  • A receipt acknowledging the scholarship from the previous year (if applicable)
How can you apply?

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1:
Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required details to register (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to 'Apply Services' and click on it. 
Step 4: Now. click on the 'Register' button, select the Aadhaar card for the document type, enter the Aadhaar number and captcha code. 
Step 5: Tick the checkbox and click on the 'Continue' button to register.
Step 6: After successful registration, log in using the credentials (user ID, password, and captch code). 
Step 7: Select the scholarship scheme and fill the relevant details.
Step 8: Upload the required documents in the prescribed format and click on the 'Submit' button.

Terms and Conditions
  • The scholarship will be awarded for studying all post-matriculation or post-secondary courses, including intermediate, senior-secondary, diploma, long-term vocational training certificates, graduate, and postgraduate degrees, from a recognised institution falling into one of the following nine categories:
    • Institutions of National Importance
    • Central or State Universities/Autonomous colleges recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and universities/colleges recognized under section 2(f) of the UGC Act
    • Deemed universities
    • All private universities recognised by the state or central government
    • Private professional institutions affiliated with a recognized Central/State University and covered by a fee fixation committee as mandated by the Supreme Court  
    • Recognized schools/colleges for Classes 11 and 12
    • Diploma-granting institutions recognized by the State/UT Government
    • Vocational Training Institutes affiliated with the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT)
    • Institutions affiliated/approved by the appropriate bodies like the National Medical Commission (NMC)/All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or any other regulatory body established by the State/Central Government  
  • The scholarship will be payable for 10 months in an academic year.
  • No scholarship will be awarded to students who did not get promoted to the next class/level.
  • Changes in the course of study will not be permitted.
  • The tenure of the award is for two or three years, depending on the duration of the postgraduate course, and not for an extended period of study.
  • Students domiciled in one state/UT but holding an SC certificate from another State/UT can avail of the scholarship in the State/UT from which the SC certificate was issued.
  • The scholarship of a student will be canceled in case of discontinuation of studies due to personal reasons or in case of false information provided in the online application.  

 

For Renewal of the Scholarship:-

  • The scholarship granted under the scheme will be renewed during the first year of the postgraduate course, subject to good conduct and maintaining at least 75% attendance. Attendance will be verified through an Aadhaar-based attendance system.
  • If a student fails to appear for the annual exam due to illness, their scholarship can still be renewed. They are only required to provide a medical certificate from an approved authority, which must be accepted by the institution/awarding body.
  • Even if a student gets promoted but fails to pass the previous year's exams, they can still receive the scholarship for their new class, as long as they meet the other scholarship requirements and their university/institute allows this exception.
  • If a student fails and repeats a class, their scholarship will continue for one additional year or the duration of the repeated class, whichever is shorter.
