Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students, Chandigarh 2024-25 is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India to provide financial assistance to students studying in Class 11 and above. The key objective of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to eligible students who want to pursue their studies at the post-matriculation level. The selected scholars will receive a maintenance allowance of ₹1,200 and other benefits.

Note:- Scholars who are entitled to free board and/or lodging will be paid a maintenance charge at 1/3rd of the rate for Hostellers.
Additional Provision for ST students with disabilities:-

2) Escort Allowance of ₹160 per month for severely handicapped day scholar students with low extremity disability.
3) Special pay of ₹160 per month is admissible to any employee of the hostel willing to extend help to severely orthopedically handicapped students residing in the hostel of an educational institution, who may need the assistance of a helper.
4) Provision of transport allowance up to ₹160 per month for disabled students, if such students reside in the hostel, which is within the premises of the educational institution. The disability as per the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 is defined as blindness, low-vision, leprosy-cured, hearing impairment, locomotor disability, mental retardation and mental illness.
5) Allowance of ₹240 per month towards extra coaching to mentally retarded students.
6) Study tour charges up to a maximum of ₹1,600 per annum limited to the actual expenditure incurred by the student on transportation charges etc. will be paid to the scholars studying professional and technical courses provided that the head of the institution certifies that the study tour is essential for the scholar for completion of his/her course of study.
7) Thesis typing/printing charges up to a maximum of ₹1,600 will be paid to research scholars on the recommendation of the Head of the Institution.
Provisions (3) and (4) will also apply to leprosy-cured students.
Note:-
Book Allowance for students pursuing Correspondence/Distance education courses:-
The students pursuing such courses are also eligible for an annual allowance of ₹1,200 for essential prescribed books, besides reimbursement of course fees.
Book Banks:
Book banks will be established in all medical, engineering, agricultural, law, and veterinary degree colleges and institutes offering chartered accountancy, MBA, and similar management courses, as well as polytechnics, where Scheduled Caste students receive the Post-Matric Scholarship. Two sets of textbooks will be purchased for each stage of these courses for the benefit of SC students, except for postgraduate programs and chartered accountancy, where each student will receive one set. However, the number of sets provided may be adjusted based on the total resources allocated to the state and the total number of students eligible.
Details regarding the courses covered, the maximum expenditure allowed per book set, and the criteria for sharing the resources are provided below:

Storage of Books and Contingencies
For storing books and covering unforeseen expenses (contingencies) such as transportation, the following costs are admissible for each book bank's steel almirah:
Binding and Stitching Expenses
An additional 5% of the grant can be allocated for expenses related to binding, stitching, etc., of the books.
Note: These book sets also include Braille books, talking books, and cassettes for visually impaired students.
Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 4: Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Step 5: Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 6: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
Step 7: Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
Step 8: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. (Note:- This is a temporary registration number, students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.)
Step 9: After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
Step 10: Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.
Note:- All the applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form. Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.
