About The Program
Post Graduate Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holders 2022-23 is an opportunity offered to University Rank Holders (1st and 2nd) at the UG level and admitted to a PG course. The scholarship is being offered by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India. The students from the following streams studying at the UG level can apply for the scholarship -
- Life Sciences
- Physical Sciences
- Chemical Sciences
- Earth Sciences
- Mathematical Sciences
- Social Sciences
- Commerce
- Languages
The purpose of this scheme is to attract talent for pursuing postgraduate studies besides strengthening the basic subjects at the undergraduate level. Under this scheme, the awardees can pursue their postgraduate programme in any area of specialization in any institution of higher learning in the country. The selected students will receive INR 3,100 per month for a period of two years only i.e. full duration of a PG course.

To be eligible, an applicant must -
- be below 30 years of age
- be a first and second rank* holder at the University level in undergraduate (UG) courses
- have taken admission in a regular non-professional postgraduate course
*Note -
The first and second rank holders (Not position holders) will be considered from Universities/Institutions and non-affiliated/autonomous Colleges according to the number of students who have appeared in the examination at the undergraduate level as per the below table -

Benefits
The selected students will receive INR 3,100 per month for a period of two years only i.e. full duration of a PG course.
Note - No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges.

- Attested copy of university's undergraduate degree
- Certificate of matriculation
- Verification certificate issued by the institute where the student has taken admission at PG level
- Scanned copy of Aadhaar card/enrollment
How can you apply?
Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps -
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' link below.
Step 2: Navigate to 'Applicant Corner'and click on 'New Registration'.
Step 3: Now click on 'Click here for other Scholarship Schemes hosted on NSP for AY 2022-23'.
Step 4: Read the guidelines carefully, select the undertaking, and 'Continue'.
Step 5: Select the state of domicile, scholarship category (Pre Matric), scheme type (scholarship scheme), gender, and write the applicant's name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID.
Step 6: Provide the bank details (Bank name, IFSC Code, Account Number)
Step 7: Select Aadhaar or Bank Account Number as identification detail and click on the 'Register' button.
Step 8: The mobile number will be verified and an OTP will be generated.
Step 9: Now, log in using OTP and fill out the application form.
Step 10: After successful submission of the application form, an application ID and password will be generated which can be used for future references.
Note - All the applicants are advised to fill the form correctly, no changes can be made once submitted. The applicants are also advised to fill in only one application as multiple applications will cancel the form.

Terms and Conditions
- Change in course of study is not permitted.
- Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. Only verified online applications will be considered for the award of scholarship.
- The concerned University/Institute must verify that the applicant is a first or second-rank holder out of the specified total number of students who appeared in the examination at the undergraduate level.
- The amount of scholarship will be directly transferred to the student's account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
- The scholarship can be renewed during the period of postgraduate course subject to the good conduct and maintenance of prescribed attendance by the applicant.
- The scheme will be implemented and monitored by the UGC.
- The scholarship of a student may be cancelled in any of the following cases -
- Misconduct of the awardee reported by the University/Institution (if any).
- Unsatisfactory progress report (i.e. if the candidate scores less than 60% marks in the first year of the master’s programme).
- The student who is awarded a postgraduate scholarship for University Rank Holders will not be debarred from accepting any other scholarships.
