Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child 2022-23 is an initiative for girl students up to 30 years of age who happen to be the only girl child in their family. The scholarship is being offered by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The scholarship aims to promote girl education and compensate for the direct costs of girl education at all levels. The selected candidates will receive INR 36,200 per annum for a period of two years.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility To be eligible for this scholarship, an applicant must -
- be a girl student up to 30 years of age at the time of admission
- be the only child of the family
- have taken admission to regular full-time first-year master's degree course in any designated university or a post-graduate college
Note -
- Admission to PG Course in Distance education mode is not covered under the scheme.
- Girl students who don't have a brother or girl students who are twin daughters/fraternal daughters may also apply for a scholarship under the aforesaid scheme.
- If there is one son and one daughter in a family, the girl child will not be considered for a scholarship under the scheme.
Benefits A total of 3,000 scholarships will be awarded to girl students from across the country. An amount of INR 36,200 per annum will be provided for a duration of 2 years or the full duration of the postgraduate course.
Note: No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges etc.
Documents The following documents are required to be submitted -
- Scanned copy of Aadhaar Enrollment/Aadhaar Card
- Student's photograph
- Self-attested copy of previous academic mark sheets
- Fee receipt of current course year
- Affidavit regarding single girl child status
How can you apply? Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps -
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' link below.
Step 2: Navigate to 'Applicant Corner'and click on 'New Registration'.
Step 3: Now click on 'Click here for other Scholarship Schemes hosted on NSP for AY 2022-23'.
Step 4: Read the guidelines carefully, select the undertaking, and 'Continue'.
Step 5: Select the state of domicile, scholarship category (Pre Matric), scheme type (scholarship scheme), gender, and write the applicant's name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID.
Step 6: Provide the bank details (Bank name, IFSC Code, Account Number)
Step 7: Select Aadhaar or Bank Account Number as identification detail and click on the 'Register' button.
Step 8: The mobile number will be verified and an OTP will be generated.
Step 9: Now, log in using OTP and fill out the application form.
Step 10: After successful submission of the application form, an application ID and password will be generated which can be used for future references.Note - All the applicants are advised to fill the form correctly, no changes can be made once submitted. The applicants are also advised to fill in only one application as multiple applications will cancel the form.

Last Date for Defect Verification: 15th January 2023
Last Date for Institute Verification: 15th January 2023
Selection Criteria
The candidates will be selected based on the fulfilment of eligibility criteria. After selection, the awardees will be paid scholarship by DBT mode on annual basis.

- The awardee can avail of other scholarships also during the tenure of this scholarship.
- The host institution needs to verify the candidate's online application.
- No tuition fees will be charged by the institute from girl students to pursue PG degree course in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
- All incomplete applications will be summarily rejected.
- Those students who fail to get promoted to the next class/level will forfeit the scholarship.
- The students will not be permitted to change the course after the award of the scholarship.

The last date to apply for Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship was 15th January 2022. You cannot apply for it now. We would request you to look up for other available scholarships and apply for them.
