About The Program

SHORT FILM CONTESTS like to challenge content creators and give them opportunities to showcase their talent by organising short film contests. These hugely popular contests are organised in association with international film festivals and/or corporate partners. Some of the salient features of our contests are:

  • Respected and reputed jury –professionals and veterans from the media fraternity
  • Attractive prizes, such as:
  1. Internships with reputed film makers
  2. Participation in / trip to international film festivals
  3. Professional, state-of-the-art film making equipment
  4. Cash prizes etc.
  • Revenue share opportunities – We believe that a creator should participate in the success of their creation and hence, offer revenue share opportunities to all the participants in our contests.

Prizes:

  • The winner of the Short Takes 6 contest will be invited to the Indian Film Festival Stuttgart (economy flight and hotel stay).
  • The Top 3 films will get a Walk-In entry to compete for the prestigious “German Star of India Best Short Film Award” carrying a prize of € 1,000* (paid directly to the winner by the festival IFF, Stuttgart).
  • The Top 3 films will be screened at the Indian Film Festival, Stuttgart in July 2016.
  • The Top 3 Films will also get a Certificate and a trophy.
  • All participating films will be distributed by Pocket Films, at its discretion, and will be entitled to a revenue share as mentioned in the terms and conditions.

  • The entry should be submitted by the Participant who may be the rights holder of the film or the person authorised to participate in the contest upon accepting the terms and conditions. For the purposes of this contest and subsequent distribution of the participating film the Participant hereby confirms that he/she/it has the necessary rights to submit the entry/film by accepting the terms and is solely responsible for the same. The Participant indemnifies Pocket Films against any claims regarding the said film submitted herein.
  • The Participant confirms that he/she is 18 years of age as on 20th April 2016.
  1. Only the person who submits the entry will be considered as the “Participant”. All communications from our end as well as the benefits, if any, will be only with/to the Participant.
  2. Transfer, assignment or substitution of the prizes / benefits to a person other than the participant, will not be permitted. However, in exceptional cases the organisers reserve the right to entertain such request at their discretion.
  3. The participant agrees that the organisers shall not be held responsible for any unauthorised use of the content by any third party and Pocket Films does not guarantee the posting of any content.
  • The decision of the jury shall be final, unquestionable and binding on all participants.
  • To avail the 1st prize, the winner:
    1. Must possess a valid Passport
    2. Must apply for and receive a valid visa to travel to the destination
    3. Must adhere to all the rules, regulations and terms as applicable to each traveller to the destination
    4. Must take necessary insurance as may be desired
    5. Must understand that the contest promoters are only responsible for providing the airline tickets, accommodation in Stuttgart and entry to the festival. All other arrangements and costs for the trip have to be arranged for and borne by the Participant
    6. The organisers bring this offer on a best effort basis. The winning participant hereby confirms that it will not hold the Organisers or it’s employees or representatives responsible for any untoward incident he/she may endure in relation with fulfilment of this prize.
    7. The Organisers liability for the prize is limited to bearing the cost of economy air travel and hotel accommodation in Stuttgart. Everything else is the responsibility of the participant.
  • Once submitted the entries cannot be withdrawn for any reason whatsoever.
  • Pocket Films may reject any film without assigning any reason whatsoever and the same cannot be challenged.
  • All materials, documents, etc. submitted for participation shall not be returned under any circumstances and shall become the property of Pocket Films.
  • To the fullest extent permissible by applicable law, the Organisers shall not be liable for any economic losses, loss of goodwill or reputation or special, indirect or consequential losses (whether or not such losses were within the contemplation of the Participant and us at the date of the upload/submission of the Entry for the contest) suffered or incurred by the Participant arising out of or in connection with these Official Rules and Terms. The Organisers’ aggregate collective liability arising from or relating to the contest and/or these Official Rules and Terms (and whether the liability arises because of breach of contract, negligence or for any other reason) shall be limited to INR 5000/- or the revenue share received by the Participant in the previous 6 months, whichever is less.
  • The scheduling, timetable and screening of the winners’ films shall be at the discretion of the festival
  • Some of the terms are used interchangeably in the agreement but have the same meaning eg. “The Participant” is the same as “You”, “all” means “any” and vice versa, “Organisers” mean Pocket Films and / or Indian Film Festival, Stuttgart, as applicable.
  • The organizers reserve the right to modify the terms and conditions of the contest without any intimation to the participants at any time after the launch of the contest
  • The headings to each section are for reference and easier reading and shall not affect the meaning of the terms as mentioned herein
  • Entry and participation of films implies unconditional acceptance of these terms and regulations.
  • Pocket Films’ decision in all matters pertaining to this contest and distribution terms herein shall be final and binding in all respects.

Terms and Conditions

What they want:

  • Short Films (No documentaries)
  • Produce in India or by an Indian or having a reference to India
  • Short Films completed after 1st July 2015

DURATION

  • Minimum – 1 minute
  • Maximum – 15 minutes (including credits)

TERMS RELATING TO THE CONTENT:

  1. This is a short film competition and hence ONLY Short Films should be submitted. NO DOCUMENTARIES.
  2. The film (the term ‘film’ also includes the supporting details and metadata, wherever applicable) shall not be more than 15 minutes in duration, including the beginning and end credits. Films exceeding this time limit are liable to be rejected. We recommend keeping the credits at the end of the film.
  3. The film should have been completed after 1st July 2015
  4. The films may be in their original language but MUST be subtitled in ENGLISH. Films in English language too should have subtitles in English. We recommend subtitles be submitted in .srt format as far as possible and submit to us along with your film.   5. Films submitted previously to this festival will not be considered for this contest.
  6. The films may be shot in any format.  However, the recommended ratios are:  16:9 / 16:9 Full Height Anamorphic – in DV / HDV. The recommended video files formats are VOB, MPG, MPEG4 or AVI.
  7. In making your Film, you must have (1) obtained appropriate releases for every person who appears recognizably in your Film; (2) obtain appropriate releases for those locations that appear recognizably in your film and require releases; (3) obtained appropriate releases from producers, right-holders and/or co-producers You will retain any such releases and provide them to the organisers upon request.
  8. The Film must not contain any copyrighted work(s) belonging to third parties unless (1) you have a license to use such works in the Film; or (2) the use your Film makes of such works is a fair one under the copyright laws. You will retain any licenses and provide them to organisers upon request.
  9. The participant grants the Organisers (Pocket Films and Indian Film Festival, Stuttgart) the limited non-exclusive rights to screen (non – commercial) their film on their respective websites, at the festival and other associated screenings for the period of one year from the last date of submission, for which they are not entitled to any fee or consideration of any kind whatsoever.
  10. The Participant also grants the Organisers the right to use their name, image, voice, likeness, statements, background and biographical material in connection with the contest or festival.
