Philately Scholarship Scheme Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana 2018-19 invites applications from students of class 6 to 9 who pursue philately as a hobby. The key objective of this scholarship is to generate interest regarding philately amongst students.

    Eligibility
    An applicant must -
    • Be a student of class 6 to 9 from recognized schools within India 
    • Be a member of the Philately Club at his/her concerned school or have a separate philately deposit account
    • Have a good academic record 
    • Have scored at least 60% marks or equivalent in the recent final examination in 2018 (at the time of selection)
    Benefits
    Top 40 students (maximum 10 students from each class) will receive the scholarship amount of INR 6000 per annum (INR 500 per month). 
    How can you apply?
    Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship offline through following steps -
    Step 1: Download the application form. 
    Step 2: Read all the instructions. 
    Step 3: Fill in the application form either in Hindi or English. 
    Step 4: Submit the application form to the concerned Divisional Head either in-hand or by Registered/Speed post. 
    Note: A school can submit all the applications together in one envelope.

Last date to apply for the scholarships - 20 July 2018
Date of Philately Written Quiz - 10 August 2018
Selection Criteria
The selection process for the scholarship involves two levels - 
  • Level 1 - Philately Written Quiz 
A written quiz test of one hour will be conducted at the regional level by the Postal authorities. The students will have to answer 50 multiple choice questions from subjects like Current Affairs, History, Sports, Science, Geography, Culture and Philately (local and national). 
  • Level 2 - Philately Project
The students selected at the regional level will have to submit a philately project of not more than 4 to 5 pages using mot more than 16 stamps and not more than 500 words within 15 days. 
Terms and Conditions
  • The scholarship amount will be directly transferred to the joint account (with parents) of the awardees in India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) or Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) in a branch that has core banking facility. 
  • An awardee will receive the scholarship if he/she maintains a good conduct and continues his/her studies as a regular student. 
  • The scholars need to continue the practice of Philately Deposit Account during the scholarship tenure. 
  • The students who have received a scholarship last year will have to apply afresh this year.
