About The Program

Swansea University offers PhD Scholarships for international students who are interested in pursuing their doctoral studies at the Department of Physics, College of Science at Swansea University. The scholarship recipients can avail tuition fee reduction worth up to GBP 8,650. The scholarships are available for the following areas of research:

  • Applied Physics and Materials
  • Atomic, Molecular and Quantum Physics
  • Particle Physics and Cosmology Theory

To be eligible for these scholarships, an applicant must-

  • Be an international (non-UK/EU) candidate
  • Have a First, Upper Second Class Honours or a Master’s degree with Merit, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline
  • Meet the English language requirements (IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in each component or equivalent)
  • Be interested in pursuing a PhD in the Department of Physics at the College of Science at Swansea University
Benefits

Up to 5 scholarships will be awarded to international candidates. The selected candidates will receive scholarships in the form of tuition fee reduction. The scholarship will be for a duration of 3 years where students will receive tuition fee reduction worth GBP 8,650

Note: The fee of international students is GBP 18,400 per annum. The scholarship recipients will be required to pay GBP 9,750 per annum.

Terms and Conditions
  • The university prefers candidates who have already met the English language requirements at the time of application.
  • The tuition fee for years of study after the first year is subject to an increase of 3%.
  • Candidates need to submit two supporting references with the application form.
  • Candidates should use the ‘Supplementary Personal Statement’ section of the application form to clearly state the field of research that interests them and explain why it particularly matches their skills and experience.
  • The shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Skype interview by the Admission team.
