About The Program

Paired Early Career Fellowship in Applied Research (PECFAR) 2026 is an opportunity offered by the Indo-German Science & Technology Centre (IGSTC) for early-career researchers from India and Germany. It provides networking and exploration of avenues for collaboration and innovation in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) for Indian scholars. The selected candidates will receive €2,300 per month with other benefits.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian pursuing studies from Indian institutions
  • not exceed 40 years of age
  • hold a Master’s degree in Science or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (4 years)
  • hold one of the following:
  • regular positions or job contract* in academia/research institution/industry; or
  • employment contract* with their parent organisation while being enrolled for Ph.D. in universities/research organisations

Note:- *Applicants must hold a valid employment tenure or residual fellowship for at least 18 months starting from the application deadline.

Benefits

Selected candidates will receive:-

  • A fellowship of €2,300 per month, on a pro rata basis (30 days)
  • A travel allowance of €1,500

Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:-
Step 1:

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected by a joint scientific committee of experts, whose applications will be evaluated based on relevance to a long-term Indo-German partnership, compatibility of the applicant pair, feasibility of the work plan, and benefits to the host organisation and country.

Yes, applicants can hold other fellowships concurrently, provided the other fellowship has no restrictions on the same.
