About The Program

The Oskar Morgenstern Fellowship 2026 is offered by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. The fellowship is a prestigious one-year online program designed to support outstanding graduate students, scholars, and practitioners from any discipline with an interest in political economy and emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence. Selected fellows will receive a stipend of up to $2,250 along with all required readings for the program.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must be:

  • a graduate student in any discipline and from any university pursuing research on emerging technologies and AI, or
  • an active scholar at an academic or research organisation who teaches or does research on emerging technologies and AI, or
  • an active practitioner in research or policy related to emerging technologies and AI, or
  • be enrolled in an accredited PhD program during the upcoming academic year

Note: Fellows must have training in quantitative methods.

Benefits

The selected fellows will receive a stipend of up to $2,250 (approx. ₹2,01,697.88, along with all required readings for the program.

Terms and Conditions

Fellows are required to:

  • Attend and actively participate in all three weekend colloquia during the academic year
  • Arrive on time and prepared for each session, having read the assigned readings in advance
  • Submit research proposals for the summer colloquium by stated deadlines
