To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be at least 17 years of age at the time of application
- be residing in a self-settled leprosy colony
- have had leprosy or have at least one parent with the disease
- be pursuing a B.Sc. Nursing (Basic) or GNM degree
- be a first-year applicant starting studies in the current academic year 2024-25
Note:- Applicants pursuing B.Sc. degree in Basic Nursing must have completed Class 12 from a recognized school with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.

Documents
- Photocopies of:
- Passport-size photographs of the applicant
- Birth certificate or other proof of date of birth
- Marksheets of Class 10 and 12 board exams
- Leprosy certificate of parent(s) which may include a treatment certificate, District Leprosy Officer certificate, or Disability certificate mentioning Hansen's disease/leprosy
- Admission letter/call letter issued by the institute the applicant is applying to
- Proof of admission in a government-recognised institute (only required if the student has already secured admission)
Note: Applicants who haven't secured admission yet must submit Annexure-I (available on the S-ILF website).

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship using the steps listed below:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and enter the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Navigate to 'How to Apply' and click on the given link.
Step 4: Click on 'Nursing Scholarship, Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation 2023-24' and fill in the details to 'Register'. (Note - If the applicant is already registered, log in using valid credentials.)
Step 5: Fill in the required details, attach the relevant documents, and submit.

Selection Criteria
Eligible candidates will be shortlisted based on their marks in the last board examination. Shortlisted students will be called for a personal interview. The selection committee will then select the top candidates for the scholarship. If a selected candidate declines the scholarship, the offer will be extended to the next eligible candidate on the waiting list.

- No capitation fee will be paid for admission.
- Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
- Regular attendance, dedication to learning, and high academic performance are expected from scholarship recipients.
- Applicants receiving scholarships from other organisations are ineligible for this program.
- Application forms can also be obtained from State Leaders of the Association of People Affected with Leprosy (APAL).
- Scholarship funds will be disbursed only upon securing admission to a government-recognised institution.
- A medical certificate from a government doctor will be required as proof of leprosy or parental leprosy instead of photographs.
- State leader verification is mandatory for a complete application.
