About The Program
NHPC Sports Scholarship Scheme 2025 is an opportunity provided by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) to young, talented, and emerging sportspersons. It supports sportspersons for 16 games including Football, Kabaddi, Hockey, Boxing, Archery, Athletics, Shooting, Cricket, Swimming, Wrestling, Volleyball, Bridge, Table Tennis, Chess, Badminton, and Para sports. The selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of up to ₹14,000.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be an Indian national
- be between 14 to 19 years old (for junior players) or 14 to 24 years old (for para-sports)
For applicants as an Elite Scholar, they must:-
- be representing the country at the junior or senior level (in a team game)
- have secured a National or international ranking between 1-5 at the sub-junior, junior, or senior level or be a finalist in the national/international championship (in an individual game)
- possess a license issued by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) and a national ranking between 1-5 by PCI or be a finalist in a national/international championship [in para-sports (Individual Sports)]
For scholars, they must:-
- be representing the state team at the junior or senior level (in a team game)
- have secured a National ranking between 6-15 at the sub-junior, junior, or senior level or be a semi-finalist in the national/international championship (in an individual game)
- possess a license issued by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) and a national ranking between 1-5 by PCI or be a finalist in a national/international championship [in para-sports (Individual Sports)]
Benefits
The selected candidates will receive the following benefits:
- a maximum amount of ₹5,000 for each candidate towards the purchase of a sports kit.
- a maximum of ₹48,000 per candidate towards DA/travel/accommodation for individual games only. This is permissible for a maximum of up to 6 All India National ranking tournaments.
- a monthly stipend of ₹12,000 in the first year, ₹13,000 in the second year, and ₹14,000 in the third year for elite scholars.
- a monthly stipend of ₹9,000 in the first year, ₹10,000 in the second year, and ₹11,000 in the third year for scholars (Note:- There is no such provision for team games).

Selection Criteria
Terms and Conditions
- The period of the sports scholarship will not be extended beyond more than three years. Upon the dissatisfactory performance of the players, the NHPC has all the right to discontinue the scholarship for the particular player.
- NHPC scholarship recipients cannot receive other sports-related financial aid nor double benefits for multiple sports unless approved by NHPC's CMD.
- There is no obligation on the part of NHPC to give employment to the NHPC Sports Scholars.
- Sports scholars must submit a performance report, including relevant press clippings, immediately after each tournament. This report should be submitted through their institution's head/principal or their National/State Association.
- Candidates should wear NHPC-branded T-shirts and tracksuits during tournaments and participation events. They must also use NHPC-branded kit bags during both practice and tournaments.
- Exceptionally talented athletes who don't meet standard age or eligibility criteria may still be considered with approval from the NHPC Chairman and Managing Director (CMD).
- While receiving the scholarship, applicants must sign an undertaking (Annexure I) and NOC (Annexure II).
