To be eligible, an applicant must -
- be sheltered in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) [Note - The CCIs registered under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 are only eligible to apply]
- be pursuing study from Class 9 onwards
- have secured a minimum of 55% marks in the final examination
of the previous class
- have secured a minimum of 75% attendance on an annual basis
- have an Aadhaar-linked savings bank account in a
Nationalized Ban
Benefits
The selected candidates will receive a scholarship of INR 1,000 per month and an annual book grant of INR 1,000 i.e. a total of INR 13,000 per year.
The students will also be provided with a Certificate of Appreciation every year.
Documents
- Copies of the Memorandum of Association
- Bye-laws/Rules and Regulations of the organization/CCIs
- Resolution authorizing office bearers for operating Bank Account
- A copy of the bank passbook showing Name, Account number and IFSC Code
- Audited Statement of Accounts (comprising of Income and Expenditure Account; Receipt and Payment Account; Balance Sheet and Audit Reports) for the last three financial years and Annual Reports for the last three years of the Child Care Institution to be enclosed

The application of each child has to be submitted by the person in charge of the CCI by following the below-mentioned steps -

Selection Criteria
The selection process involves the following stages -
- Submission of applications through the State Governments who in turn will forward the same after receiving from the Department of Women and Child Development/ Department of Social Justice
- Scrutiny of application
- Issue of the sanction order
- Release of the amount online to the beneficiary directly to the bank account through DBT
The application received from various CCIs will be screened by a committee formed in the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD). The names finalized by this committee will be sent for scrutiny by a committee formed in the Ministry for finalization.
Further, the students duly verified by the officials and fulfilling the criteria will be eligible for the scholarship and their names will be ratified by the Board of Management in its ensuing meeting.

Terms and Conditions
- 50% of the total scholarship money will be earmarked for girl students.
- The child should not be receiving any assistance on regular basis from any other sources towards her/his education.
- 300 scholarships will be provided with each in Class 9 to 12 (a total of 1200 scholarships – merit-wise in a year per class).
- The number of scholarships may be revised annually subject to the availability of the funds as per Clause 24 of Schedule “B” of “Scheme for Administration of NCF”.
