About The Program

The Nature Conservancy has invited applications from young scientists and engineers for NatureNet Science Fellows Program 2018. This Program aims to create a new generation of conservation leaders who incorporate academic science with real-world application. And also, one of the goals of this Program is to support innovative and imapct-oriented research that help tackle climate challenges.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

Eligible individuals will:

  • Not be employed as a post-doctoral student (at another university) at the start of this fellowship.
  • Have completed their doctorate within five years before the application close date in November. 
  • Applicants who have not yet completed their doctorate must clearly indicate on the application the date the degree is expected.

Terms and Conditions

  • Research proposal
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Letters of support from candidate's proposed TNC and University mentors
  • Research budget for Postdoctoral Research Grant Applications only

 

Award Details
Each Fellow will receive a non-negotiable annual salary of USD 50,000 plus benefits, with the postdoctoral position expected to run for two consecutive years. In addition to this, each Fellow will receive approximately USD 5,000 as his/her annual travel budget and also, an annual research fund of approximately USD 20,000. Second-year renewal of the Fellowship depends upon satisfactory progress and contribution to the collective program.

How is the fellow funded? 

  • Endowment through joint TNC-University fundraising (structure TBD); OR 
  • TNC and the University will collaborate in sponsorship as flexible partners. 
  • The estimated full cost of the partnership for the university is $129,000 over two years for salary and program-related costs with most flexible partners making a 4-year commitment. 

How and when is grant money dispersed to the university?

  • Once the grant agreement is fully executed, payments fromTNC are distributed via check inside USA and wire transfer abroad.
