About The Program

National Overseas Scholarship for Minority Community Students, Karnataka 2018-19 invites applications from Graduates, Postgraduates and PhD Scholars from the state of Karnataka. The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance of INR 20 Lacs to students from minority communities who wish to go abroad for higher studies.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
  • The applicant must be a domicile of Karnataka.
  • The applicant must also belong to Muslim, Christian, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhist or Parsi community.
  • The age of the applicant must be below 38 years from the date of commencement of course.
  • The applicant must have scored 60% marks or equivalent grade in his last degree.
  • The scholarship is only applicable for selected courses mentioned here.
Benefits
  • The eligible students can get total scholarships up to INR 20 lacs per annum for maximum 2 years depending on the annual income of their family.
  • The amount will cover the cost of the entire course, one side airfare, and simple living expenses.
Documents
  • A copy of Income & Caste Certificate Issued by the Tahsildar for the current year.
  • A copy of Income Tax Returns (Latest), If the student is an Income Tax Payee.
  • An attested copy of degree certificate (Convocation Certificate).
  • An attested copy of currently valid Indian passport.
  • A personal statement by candidate presenting his/ her case for scholarship (Not more than 2 pages).
  • A copy of details of course fees and fees break-up in which the candidate is selected.

Selection Criteria

The scholars will be selected by the selection committee who will interview the short-listed candidates.

Terms and Conditions
  • Students with annual family income below 6 Lacs are only eligible for the annual scholarship up to INR 10 Lacs for two years.
  • Students having the annual family income between 6-15 Lacs are only eligible for a maximum scholarship up to INR 5 Lacs for two years.
  • Students applying for renewal of their2017-18 scholarship can follow the steps mentioned here.
  • The candidates need to obtain the offer letter from the foreign university before applying for this scholarship.
  • The selected candidates have to execute a bond on a non-judicial stamp paper of INR 200.
  • In case a scholar violates any terms & condition of the bond then he will be liable to pay the entire amount along with 12% interest per annum to the Government.
  • One student from one family is eligible for this scholarship.
