The Directorate of Minorities, Government of Karnataka has introduced a scheme for providing financial assistance to Minority students of Karnataka State for pursuing higher studies abroad in Master Degree, Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral Courses etc., in prestigious Foreign Universities. The main objective of the Scheme is to arrest the tendency of drop out due to economic incapability and in order to create the possibilities of employment opportunities amongst the Meritorious minorities students to continue the Pre-University, Professional and Technical Courses in Degree at Post-Graduation level, M.Phil. and Ph.D. Candidates will be selected on the basis of interview by the selection committee.

    Eligibility

    The candidates interested in applying for this scholarship need to fulfill the following eligibility conditions –

    • For Post-Doctoral: - Candidates should have scored 60% and above marks or equivalent grade in relevant Master Degree/Ph.D.
    • For Ph.D.: - Candidates should have scored 60% and above marks or equivalent grade in relevant Master Degree.
    • For Master Degree: - Candidates should have scored 60% and above marks or equivalent grade in relevant Bachelor Degree.
    • The student must be a domicile of Karnataka.
    • Only one candidate is eligible to take benefit of this scheme from one family.
    • The student must be below 38 years from the date of commencement of the opted course or subjects selected for higher Studies.
    • Candidates income/his or her parental income should not exceed INR 6 lakh from all sources.

    Procedure to apply for application form is:
    Step 1: Visit the official website of Directorate of Minorities www.gokdom.kar.nic.in.
    Step 2: Download application form by clicking here.
    Step 3: Fill in all necessary details 
    Step 4: Submit the form along with all mandatory documents to the Directorate of Minorities.

Terms and Conditions

For those students whose total family income from all sources is between INR 6.00 lacs per annum to INR 15.00 Lacs per annum, they are eligible for 50% of the Scholarship subject to a maximum of INR 5.00 lacs per annum (for 2 years). The amount also covers the cost of one side airfare and simple living expenses as has been prescribed for all levels of courses covered under the scheme.
