About The Program

National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Examination, Himachal Pradesh 2024-25 is conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Solan, for Class 8 students during the 2024-25 academic year. A total of 832 selected students will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹1,000.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian citizen
  • be a domicile of Himachal Pradesh
  • be studying in Class 8 in a government, local body, or 95% government-aided private school during the current academic year
  • have scored a minimum of 55% marks in Class 7 from a government-recognised institution
  • have a total family income not exceeding ₹3,50,000 per annum

Note:- For Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) applicants, the minimum marks in Class 7 are relaxed by 5%.

A total of 832 selected candidates will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹1,000.

Note:- Caste/disability certificates must be uploaded in JPEG/JPG format with a maximum size of 100 KB.

How can you apply?

Eligible candidates can apply by following these steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard and fill in the required details to Register (Note:- If already registered, log in using the registered email ID.)
Step 3: Click on ‘Student Registration Click Here’.
Step 4: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and click on ‘Submit Application Form’.

School Registration Process:-

From 1st August 2024 onwards, principals/heads of institutions can register their schools for the NMMSS examination by emailing the following details to scertnmmsexam@gmail.com:

  2. School Name (including GMS/GHS/GMSSS/GSSS/GBSSS/GGSSS designation)*
  3. Complete School Address
  4. School District
  5. PIN Code
  6. School Email Address
  7. School Type (Government or 95% Government Aided)
  8. School Location (Urban or Rural)
  9. Principal/Head of Institution Name
  10. Principal/Head Contact Number (Aadhaar-registered mobile number)
  11. INO (Institution Nodal Officer) Contact Number (Aadhaar-registered mobile number)

Note:-

  • Kindly ensure all contact numbers are registered with Aadhaar for verification purposes.
  • The designations GMS, GHS, GMSSS, GSSS, GBSSS, and GGSSS are commonly used in the Indian education system to categorize schools based on their type and level. Here are their full forms:
    • GMS: Government Middle School
    • GHS: Government High School
    • GMSSS: Government Senior Secondary School
    • GSSS: Government Secondary School
    • GBSSS: Government Boys Senior Secondary School
    • GGSSS: Government Girls Senior Secondary School

These designations typically indicate the type of school (boys, girls, or co-ed) and the highest grade level offered.

Selection Criteria

The examination will comprise two tests:

  • Mental ability test
  • Scholastic aptitude test

Each test will consist of 90 questions worth a total of 90 marks and must be completed within 90 minutes. Applicants must achieve a minimum score of 40% to qualify.

Note:- For SC/ST categories, the minimum qualifying score is 32%.

  • The exam will be conducted at 65 examination centers across the state.
  • The scholarship will be offered for four years (Classes 9 to 12) only if the student continues to study in a government, local body, or 95% government-aided private school.
  • Students must achieve a minimum score of 60% in Class 10 to continue receiving the scholarship. This requirement is relaxed by 5% for SC/ST candidates.
  • To continue the scholarship in Classes 10 and 11, students must be promoted without repeating the year.
  • The examination centre cannot be changed after application submission

General Instructions for the Students:-

  • Candidates must carefully select their examination center while applying online for the NMMSS examination 2024-25. Once assigned, no changes to the center will be permitted.
  • Candidates should arrive at the examination center at least one hour before the exam begins. Upon entering the examination hall, candidates must immediately take their assigned seats. Delays due to traffic, transportation, or other reasons may result in missing important instructions, and SCERT Solan will not be held responsible.
  • Candidates must present the admit card downloaded from the SCERT Solan website to enter the examination room. Exam center staff are authorized to verify candidate identity and may take steps to confirm credentials. Full cooperation from candidates is expected. Candidates without a valid admit card and authorized photo ID will not be permitted to take the exam.
  • Each candidate will be assigned a seat based on their roll number. Candidates must occupy their designated seats. Changing seats without authorization may result in cancellation of candidature, and no appeals will be considered.
  • For assistance, first aid, or other information during the exam, candidates should approach the center superintendent or invigilator. Providing false information or engaging in unfair practices will result in cancellation of candidature and withheld results.

Admit Card Information:-

Availability:

  • Admit cards will be issued only to candidates who submit complete applications within the specified timeframe and meet the minimum eligibility criteria.
  • Incomplete applications (including unclear photographs) or those from ineligible candidates will not receive an admit card.

Download Process:

  • Candidates can download their admit card from the link provided on the official SCERT Solan website approximately ten days before the exam.

Important Notes:-

  • Admit cards will not be sent by post, fax, or email.
  • Candidates must appear at the allotted exam center on the date and time specified on the admit card. Attending the exam at a different location is strictly prohibited.
  • Admit cards are non-transferable. Impersonation is a punishable offense.
  • The admit card will include the candidate's name, roll number, photograph, signature, exam center address, and test schedule.
  • Candidates must bring their valid admit card and a photo ID to the exam center.
  • No candidate will be allowed to enter an exam center other than the one assigned on their admit card.
  • It is crucial to read the instructions on the admit card carefully.
  • Tampering with or altering any information on the admit card is strictly prohibited.

Instructions for Candidates Regarding OMR Answer Sheets:-

  • A fully computerised system is used to evaluate answer scripts. A machine will read the coded information on the OMR answer sheet.
  • Candidates must accurately fill in all required information on the answer sheet, including name (in capital letters), father's name, roll number, paper (MAT/SAT), disability status (yes/no), date of birth, district code, category, gender, and signature in the designated boxes. Use only a blue or black ballpoint pen to darken the corresponding circles completely.
  • Candidates are solely responsible for providing correct information. No corrections will be made offline or online, and manual evaluation of OMR answer sheets is not possible. Exercise care when filling out the OMR answer sheet.
  • Darken circles completely but avoid ink spreading outside the circle. Use only a blue or black ballpoint pen.
  • Answers cannot be changed once marked. Candidates should be certain of their answer before darkening the circle. Erasers or correction fluid are strictly prohibited on the OMR answer sheet.
  • Each question has only one correct answer. Attempting more than one answer will result in the question being marked incorrect. Changing, cutting, overwriting, or erasing answers is not allowed.
  • Candidates must sign in the designated box on the OMR answer sheet. The invigilator will sign in the provided space.
  • Carefully read all instructions on both the OMR answer sheet and question booklet before starting the exam.
  • Avoid smudging or creasing the OMR answer sheet. Do not fold or damage the answer sheet. OMR answer sheets are evaluated with extreme care and undergo multiple checks. Requests for rechecking, reevaluation, reassessment, or scrutiny of OMR answer sheets will not be entertained.
  • If there are printing errors or missing questions in the test booklet, immediately inform the invigilator.
  • Each test booklet (MAT/SAT) contains 90 compulsory questions with equal marks. There is no negative marking.
  • Any disturbance, misconduct, disobedience of exam staff instructions, or seat changes will result in expulsion from the exam. In severe cases, the matter may be reported to the police.
  • Calculators, watches with calculator functions, pagers, cell phones, and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited in the exam hall. Candidates cannot bring any textual materials, papers, envelopes, or other items into the exam hall except for the admit card.

Evaluation and Declaration of Results:-
Provisional Answer Key:

  • The provisional answer key for the written exam will be published on the official SCERT Solan websites two weeks after the exam.
  • Candidates will have 15 days from the publication date to submit objections regarding the answer key. No objections received after the deadline will be considered.

Objections to Answer Key:

  • Objections must be submitted in writing via email or postal mail.
  • Objections should include clear references and factual evidence from relevant authentic sources to support the objection.
  • Written objections will be reviewed by subject experts. The expert's report will be final and incorporated into the final answer key.

Final Answer Key and Results:

  • The final answer key will be published on the SCERT Solan website for public information.
  • The final answer key will be used to determine exam results.
  • Due to the error-free, computer-based evaluation system using OMR sheets, revaluation, rechecking, or mark recounting of answer scripts is not available.

The NMMSS 2024-25 results will be published on the official SCERT Solan website (HP).
