About The Program

National Girl Child Secondary Education Scholarship Scheme 2017-18 is organized by Government of India. It invites application for students studying in class 9 girl students belonging to SC/ST communities and should be below 16 years of age. The objective of this scheme is to establish an enabling environment to reduce the drop-outs and to promote the enrolment of girl children. The selected students will receive INR 3000 along with interest after passing class 10 and attaining age 18 years.

  • Girls who passed class 8 exam from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (irrespective of whether they belong to SC/ST) and enroll in class 9 in a State Government, Government-aided, and Local Body

How can you apply?

The application can be filled with the following steps:

Step 1: The application performa is available to District Education Officers or Principals of the schools in hard copy. It can also be downloaded from this link by the District Education Officer. It can be filled up by the student or school in excel sheet. The information of all the students of a school will be compiled in Excel sheet and verified by the Principal of the school, which will then be sent to District Education Officers either through email or on CD and hard copy.

Step 2: The District Education Officer (DEO) will log in with user ID and Password generated by the State Nodal Officer and sent to a registered mobile number of DEO.

Step 3: The mobile number can be given either of the student or parent/guardian/neighbor/friend etc.

Step 4: The use of Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) for data submission will be done by the State Nodal Officer only while submitting the data from State to this Department on NSP.

Award:
A sum of INR 3,000 is deposited in the name of selected unmarried girl students as fixed deposit on enrollment in class 9, who are entitled to withdraw it along with interest after on passing class 10 and attaining 18 years of age.

Note:

  • Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID) can be used in case Aadhaar number of the student is not available. However, Aadhaar seeded Bank Account number is to be provided latest by 31st October 2016 for making disbursement of scholarship
  • The fields mentioned with the asterisk (*) are mandatory to fill up. These are name of Ministry/Department, Scholarship name, name of student, date of birth, mobile number, Aadhaar number, Institution/ School ID/DISE code, Bank Account, IFCE code, category (SC/ST/General)
  • National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education (NSIGSE) falls within the category of pre-metric scholarship
  • The use of Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) for data submission will be done by the State Nodal Officer only while submitting the data from State to this Department on NSP
