National Geoscience Award 2018 invites applications from geo-scientists/ engineers/ technologists/ academicians to promote their contribution in the field of applied or fundamental geosciences, mining and allied areas. The award is given every year under three major categories.

    Eligibility

    An applicant must -

    • Be a citizen of India. 
    • Be an individual or a team
    • Have significantly contributed in the fields specified under following categories -
      • Mineral Discovery and Exploration
      • Mining, Mineral Beneficiation and Sustainable Mineral Development
      • Basic Geosciences 
      • Applied Geosciences
    • Not be more than 45 years of age (for Young Scientist Award - the age limit is 35 years).
    Benefits
    • National Geoscience Award for Excellence - Only one selected applicant will receive a cash prize of INR 5,00,000 and a certificate. 
    • National Geoscience Award - Nineteen awards of cash prize INR 3,00,000 and a certificate will be given to applicants under this category. 
    • Young Scientist Award - Only one selected applicant will receive a cash prize of INR 1,00,000 and a certificate. 
    How can you apply?
    Step 1: Click here to download the nomination form.
    Step 2: Fill in all required details. 
    Step 3: Attach required documents. 
    Step 4: Email the soft copy of the form to ngawards-mines@gov.in. 
    OR
    Send 2 hard copies of the completed form along with a soft copy (MS Word format) on a CDR/RW to below address -
    Director (Technical), Ministry of Mines, D-306, Shastri Bhawan, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road, New Delhi– 110 001.
Important Dates
  • Online submission of Application form- 15 June 2018 before 5:30 p.m
  • Offline submission of Application form- 31 May 2018 before 5:30 p.m
Selection Criteria

The report sent by the candidates are scrutinized under various levels by the experts of the screening committee. The final decision for the awardees is made by the Award Making Authority only.

Terms and Conditions
  • Nominations for the awards can be made by either the individual nominee or by any one by the team nominees or by any former awardee or the Head of any institution, government department or university.
  • A certain declaration has to be made by the nominee including the text mentioned in the application form.
  • A certificate from the Head of the Institution will be required declaring that the work done by the nominee is desirable, not mandatory.
