About The Program

The NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum is a ‘Tech 4 Good’ platform that aims to handle essential gaps in development, through technology-led social innovations and solutions that can lead to transformational social impact across India. This forum is for NGO's, Social Enterprises and Individual entrepreneurs. Their objective is to identify and support information and communication technologies (ICT) led innovations that have met a social development need.

Eligibility criteria:

Not for Profit

  • Must be Indian entities or foreign entities with a registered presence in India.
  • Must be registered under the Indian Trust Act, 1882, Societies Registration Act, 1860 or as a Section 8, Companies Act 2013.
  • The innovation submitted for the award and grant must benefit India or an Indian community.
  • To be considered for the NSIF award the innovation/programme must be in at least the prototype stage.
  • Organisations that are operational for less than a year are qualified for both Grant and Challenge.
  • The innovation/project entered by the organisation must not have won the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum challenge in the previous 3 years (since 2015).

For Profit/ Social Enterprise

  • To be treated a Social enterprise your organisation should get profits from pursuing only socially important activities and goals, with the profit to be re-invested into driving social impact.
  • The annual turnover of the applicant's organisation must not exceed INR 10,00,00,000 (10 crore/ 100 million) in order to qualify as a social enterprise, for the purpose of the Social Innovation Award and Grant.
  • Must be Indian or foreign entities with a registered presence in India (or in the process of registering by 30th November 2017).
  • The innovation submitted for the award and grant must benefit India or an Indian community.
  • To be considered for the NSIF award the innovation/programme must be in at least the prototype stage.
  • Organisations that are operational for less than a year are qualified for both Grant and Challenge.
  • The innovation/programme entered by the organisation must not have won the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum Challenge in the previous three years (Since 2015).

Early Stage Entrepreneurs  

  • The individual/group of individuals must be Indian citizens.
  • Must have a registered presence in India (or in the process of registering by 30th November 2017).
  • Innovation submitted for the challenge must benefit India or an Indian community.
  • In order to apply for the challenge the individual applicant whether he/she must be above 18.
  • To be considered for the challenge the innovation in question must be in prototype stage.
  • The innovation/programme entered by the organisation must not have won the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum Challenge in the previous three years (Since 2015).

Note: 

  • The NSIF team may modify the eligibility criteria from time to time with retrospective effect.
  • The NSIF team holds the right to disqualify any application that does not meet the eligibility criteria without assigning any reason whatsoever.

  • A mail regarding the status of the application will be provided in the mail while registering.
  • Once Level I application form is accepted, you can proceed further to fill the Level II application form using the same login details.

Forum thematic categories and definitions

The thematic categories of the forum might be changed/split/merged/modified/increased or cancelled by the forum management and/or jury based on the number of entries received in any category, and the quality of the entries.The decision will be final and non-contestable. The forum management won't be dealing with any queries in this regard.

The award category may get cancelled by the Jury if no participant is found worthy of inclusion by the Jury in this category.In order to maintain high standards of participation, the Jury may decide to add nominee in the category.The Jury's decision will be final and non-contestable in this regard. Any queries in this regard will not be entertained by the award management.

 NSIF award process & Call for Applications

  • Applicants can apply for the NSIF award, by completing the necessary details on ‘Level 1 Form’ on the website www.nsif.in. Only applications submitted on the NSIF website will be considered valid for the purposes of the NSIF challenge.
  • The NSIF team and /or the Jury have the right to nominate any person /organization in any thematic category to build the quality of applications in that specific category.
  • An Applicant can provide more than one entry in a thematic category if the entries are for different initiatives. A different application form needs to be used for each initiative.
  • If separate application forms are received for the same initiative, from different individuals/organizations, such entries will be treated as one entry.
  • There is no separate application form for the grant; all eligible projects by social enterprise and not for profits will be considered without bias for the grant.
  • There will be a 3-stage selection process with 2 juries – Initial and Grand Jury. The eligible, shortlisted applications will be submitted for Initial Jury, post which the Finalists will be shortlisted & invited to the Final or Grand Jury.

 The NSIF team has the right to reclassify application forms from one category to another, at its discretion.

Q. What do the winners get?
A. The NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum provides grants & mentoring to select projects. The Forum will help them thrive and grow. The winners of the Challenge, as a part of the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum receive recognition on a national platform, publicity, connects to industry, access to experts and successful innovators and entrepreneurs through the Forum. As a part of the Forum, you get a chance to participate in NASSCOM Foundation and partner events as speakers and delegates, opening a wide variety of avenues.

Q. What are the thematic categories for this year?
A. This year NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum will focus on innovations from the following themes/sectors: 
     Education
     Accessibility
     Healthcare and Sanitation
     Financial Inclusion
     Environment
    Other Social Issues- Disaster Management, Financial Inclusion, Women’s Empowerment, Child Labour , Governance, Civic Rights and more.

Q. Can I apply in more than one thematic category?
A. Yes, you can apply in more than one thematic category, as long as each application is for a unique initiative. In other words, only one initiative per application is allowed in a Forum Category. You must also ensure a unique email and login credential is used for every new and unique application.

Q. What is the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum Challenge?
A. The Forum’s Challenge is the annual competition where innovations using ICT to address gaps in key developmental areas are awarded and recognized on a national platform. By applying for the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum each applicant will by default be applying for the Challenge.
