About the Program

Elsevier invites applications for its global initiative NASI Scopus Young Scientist Awards 2019 from PhD/MD or equivalent degree holders. The objective of the awards is to support outstanding young researchers to advance the frontiers of science across a wide range of disciplines. The aim of the program is to honour talented early-career researchers who are pursuing their careers in academic research and to help them gain recognition for their work. The recipients of these awards have the opportunity to receive a cash prize of INR 75,000.

    Eligibility

    The awards will be given in 5 multi-disciplinary categories. To be eligible for awards, an applicant must: 

    • Be an Indian citizen, residing and working in India
    • Have completed at least PhD/MD or equivalent degree
    • Have been born on or after January 1st, 1979

    Note: Only female candidates are eligible to apply for the "Women in Science Award" Category.

The selected winners will be judged by a specific panel of subject experts from India's academic community based on the following criteria:

  • Quality and number of publications
  • Nature and uniqueness of research
  • Outcomes of research
  • Impact on society
  • Vision of the researcher
Terms and Conditions
  • The awards for 2019 will be presented in the following 5 multi-disciplinary categories:
    • Women In Science- This award is to recognize India’s most promising women researchers who have demonstrated excellence in the scientific field.  
    • Agriculture, Plant Sciences and Rural Development- This award is to recognize the most promising researchers working in the field of  Agriculture and are stern in developing sustainable models that help increase food security and improve the quality of life of people living in rural areas.
    • Environmentally Sound Sustainable Development- This award is to recognize the most promising researchers working in the field of Earth, Oceanographic, Environmental and Ecological Studies, Social Sciences and Ecosystem and who are contributing to protecting the planet and conserving the natural resources.
    • Biomedical Research and Healthcare- This award is to recognize the most promising researchers who are working in the field of Medicine and Bio-Medical Sciences and who are making groundbreaking contributions toward improving the health and wellbeing of citizens.
    • Innovation in Engineering and Physical Sciences- This award is to recognize the most promising researchers who are working in the field of Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and who are harnessing it to drive disruptive and sustainable growth which has a potential for high industrial and/or societal impact.
  • The research activity entered for this award should have been undertaken not more than 5 years prior to the closing date. 
  • The research activity should have been published in one or more respected, externally-refereed scientific journal(s), book(s) or equivalent electronic publication(s) and the publication must be indexed in Scopus.
