About The Program

Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) invites applications for MSC Scholarship Research Program 2019 with an aim to support students around the world who are studying fisheries science and management or supply chain traceability. MSC has awarded over GBP 70,000 to 19 student projects in 14 countries since it was started in 2012. The selected student will receive a scholarship up to GBP 4,000 per student project. MSC will offer five scholarships under this scheme.

To be eligible, the applicant must be Undergraduate or Postgraduate students from anywhere around the world who are studying problems and solutions in fisheries science and management or supply chain traceability.

Benefits

The selected students will receive a scholarship worth up to GBP 4000 for travel and other support.

How can you apply?

Follow the steps below to apply for the scholarship:

Step 1: Visit the web page here and download the application form.
Step 2: Fill the application form with the relevant details including course information, project information and research proposal etc.
Step 3: Send the duly filled application form by email to scholarship@msc.org.

Selection Criteria
  • All applications will be initially assessed on comparable scoring criteria.
  • The highest scoring applications will then be submitted for evaluation by the MSC scholarship research award review panel.
  • The MSC Director of Science & Standards reserves the right for the final decision of the scholarship award.

Terms and Conditions
  • The projects must focus on the study of some aspect of environmental improvement, performance or best practice in fisheries management, or seafood product traceability and supply chain management.
  • The project must be completed within 12 months from the start date stated on the application form.
  • The final report and project summary document must be submitted within 15 months from the start date stated on the application form.
  • Before a scholarship can be paid, scholarship recipients must provide to the MSC details of the project start date and expected date of completion.
  • The scholarship awarded to the students must only be used for project purposes. Spending the scholarship on non-project related costs is not allowed.
  • Students also need to submit an interim progress report via email (1000 words maximum).
