About the Program

The Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law invites applications for its MPIL Journalist in Residence Fellowship 2020, offering the opportunity to spend six weeks to three months in an international academic community. The selected students will also get a monthly stipend.

    Eligibility

    Working journalists from around the world who want to gain deeper insights into fundamental questions and current problems of international law, European Union law and public law and to work without the high pressure of daily deadlines on a freely chosen project, can apply for this fellowship.

    Benefits

    The selected students will get a financial award of EUR 3,000 per month.

    • A brief portrait of the journalistic work
    • A curriculum vitae
    • Three work samples with relevance to the research topics of the institute
    • A short outline of your proposed research planned for your stay at the Institute (max. 2000 characters), and
    • Details of your preferred dates (between May and December 2020)
    How can you apply?

    Follow the following steps to apply:

    Step 1: Compile application with:

    • A brief portrait of the journalistic work
    • A curriculum vitae
    • Three work samples with relevance to the research topics of the institute
    • A short outline of your proposed research planned for your stay at the Institute (max. 2000 characters), and
    • Details of your preferred dates (between May and December 2020)

    Step 2: E-mail the application at bewerebungen@mpil.de.

The MPIL Journalist in Residence Fellowship is geared towards freelance and staff journalists from all media (print, online, radio, television) who report and write regularly on legal and constitutional topics, or topics from politics, the economy and research related topics.
