About The Program
Legatum Center for Development & Entrepreneurship, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) invites applications for MIT Legatum Center Fellowship 2020 from undergraduate students. The aim of this fellowship is to help aspiring entrepreneurs gain a world-class education at MIT. Selected fellows will get benefits ranging from USD 5,000 to USD 50,000.
EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
To be eligible, an applicant must:
- Be a current MIT student who will still be enrolled for the year-long duration of the fellowship
OR
- Be admitted to begin a (full-time) degree program at MIT in the fall semester of the coming academic year
- Be innovative, principled leaders with a track record for bringing transformation
- Demonstrate a commitment to improving lives in the developing world
- Have a deep understanding of know-how to his or her venture (whether related to a technical field, geographic area and/or industry sector)
- Have a competitive edge to lead their venture to success
- Be a self-motivated visionary
- Be committed to being an entrepreneurial leader in a developing country
Benefits
- Student fellows in their graduating year will receive up to USD 50,000 as tuition/stipend support, as well as access to additional travel and prototyping funds
- Student fellows who are not in their graduating year will receive up to USD 25,000 intuition/stipend support, as well as access to additional travel and prototyping funds

- The amount awarded to each new fellow is determined by several factors including individual need, progress in the degree program, the total number of fellows accepted, and the pool of available funding for that academic year.
- As funding is limited, applicants are encouraged to explore external sources of funding as well.
- The shortlisted candidates will be invited for the interview by invitation only. Interviews can be both in-person or on phone/Skype.
