About The Program

MEA Internship Programme 2025 is an opportunity offered by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India to graduate students. The aim of the internship programme is to ensure better gender inclusivity and increase diversity in terms of qualifications, domicile and socio-economic status amongst the cohort of interns engaged by the Ministry. The selected candidates will receive an honorarium of ₹10,000 per month.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be a citizen of India
  • be 25 years of age at the time of application
  • be a graduate from a recognised institution OR
  • be in the final year of an undergraduate programme

Note: A total of 30 interns will be engaged by the Ministry of External Affairs.

How can you apply?

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below. 
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Register' tab and enter the important details. 
Step 4: Click on the Login button and enter the details. 
Step 5: Fill in the important details in the application form.
Step 6: Attach the required documents with the online application form and click on the 'Submit' button.

Selection Criteria

The selection process will consist of two stages viz. preliminary screening and personal interview. The process will follow a ‘quota cum weightage’ system whereby applicants belonging to 14 States and 4 Union Territories will be considered in each term as per the table below -

Term – 2 (October - March) Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Puducherry

Terms and Conditions
  • A minimum of 30% may be filled by women candidates. 
  • Selection to the internship programme at the Ministry of External Affairs is strictly subject to necessary security clearances. 
  • The Ministry may terminate the engagement of an intern at any point in time as it deems fit, without giving any reason.
  • The decision of the Ministry shall be final in all regards.
  • An intern can choose to terminate the internship by giving prior notice of one week to the Ministry. In such cases, the cost of air travel, if any, will be recovered from the intern.
