About The Program

Diederich College of Communication at Marquette University invites applications for O’Brien Fellowship in Public Service Journalism 2021 from international journalists with at least five years of experience. Selected students will get a stipend of USD 70,000 for nine months and other benefits.

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Have at least five years of professional experience
  • Produce journalism regularly as an employee or freelancer
  • Be connected to print operations, radio, television, websites, podcasts, online publications, wire services, or magazines of general public interest
Benefits

Selected applicants will receive a stipend of USD 70,000 for nine months and other benefits like -

  • Residency allowance up to USD 8,000
  • Moving allowance up to USD 2,000 to USD 4,000 in total.
  • Travel and research allowance up to USD 8,000
  • Tuition remission for courses offered by Marquette University

Selection Criteria

Selection is purely based on the proposal submitted by the applicants. An advisory committee consisting of distinguished journalists and Marquette faculty and alumni will interview the candidates shortlisted by the College of Communication journalism faculty. The final decision will be made by the dean of Diederich College of Communication.
