About The Program

Manohar Parrikar Goa Scholars Scheme 2024-25 is an opportunity provided by the Department of Education, Art, and Culture, Government of Goa, to students of Goa pursuing higher studies. The scholarship aims to encourage meritorious students to pursue quality education in and outside of India by providing financial aid in the form of scholarships. The selected candidates will receive a scholarship of ₹8,00,000 for study in India and USD 25,000 for study abroad.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian national
  • not exceed the age of 35 years as of 1st January 2025
  • be a domicile of Goa for a minimum of 15 years OR
  • be of Goan origin and has pursued academic studies as a resident in Goa for a minimum of 7 years
  • have passed the qualifying examination from an institution located preferably in Goa
  • have scored a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying degree examination
  • have obtained a confirmed admission in postgraduate or doctoral courses in any discipline during the scholarship period

Note:-

  • Scholarships may be offered to applicants who have studied in a reputed institution outside Goa provided they meet other eligibility criteria.
  • Applicants who passed their Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C.), Higher Secondary School Certificate (H.S.S.C.), or Graduation examination with grace marks shall not be eligible.
Benefits

Selected candidates will receive:-

  • For Study in India: ₹8,00,000
  • For Study Abroad: USD 25,000

Note:-

  • Disbursement will be made in Indian currency (₹).
  • The scholarship amount will be disbursed into the account of the candidates.

  • A write-up of about 500 words for scholarship consideration
  • Bonafide certificate issued by the institution clearly stating the applicant’s course of study
  • Covering letter

Note:- Applicants must number their documents and mention the corresponding number in the covering letter.

How can you apply?

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below. 
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Click ‘Application form for Manohar Parrikar Goa Scholar Scheme 2024-25’ and fill in the required details and submit the application.
Step 4: Upon successful submission, a mail containing all the details will be sent to the provided e-mail address. Take a printout of the mail.
Step 5: Affix a coloured passport-size photograph and fill in all the required details.
Step 6: Download the covering letter from the official scholarship website and fill in all the required details.
Step 7: Attach all the required documents and send the printout along with covering letter to the following address by hand delivery/post/courier:

Important Dates

Selection Criteria

A screening committee consisting of a well-known senior, two government-nominated members, and the directorate of higher education, will shortlist the top 60 candidates based on academic qualifications on a 100 point scale:

  • SSC (Class 10) examination: 40% weightage
  • HSSC (Class 12) and Graduation: 30% weightage for each exam

Applicants scoring 70 and above on this scale shall be called for an interview by the selection committee, which will consist of a well-known senior, four government-nominated expert members, the directorate of higher education, and the secretary. The selection committee will shortlist candidates based on a 100 point scale:

  • Academic qualifications: 45% weightage
  • Extra-curricular qualifications: 10% weightage
  • Reputation of the applicant’s institute: 15% weightage
  • Interview: 30% weightage

  • There are a total of 20 scholarships each year, which can be exceeded to a maximum of 30 with the recommendation and approval of the selection committee and the government, respectively.
  • Canvassing or political involvement will result in disqualification.
  • Incomplete or false applications will result in disqualification.
  • The decision of the Government of Goa on any matters of this scholarship will be final and binding.
