About The Program

University of Queensland, Australia invites applications for Management of Marine Plastics PhD scholarships 2020 from new and currently enrolled students of the University for Higher Degree by research programs. This scholarship aims to give an excellent platform to the PhD candidates in the research domain of plastic pollution. Selected scholars will be able to work with Associate Professor Bronwyn Laycock, Professor Paul Lant and Associate Professor Steven Pratt on the innovative project of exploring strategies for tackling marine plastics pollution. They will also receive AUD 5,000 per annum.

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Meet the eligibility criteria of Higher Degree by Research (HDR) programs at the University of Queensland
  • Be newly or currently enrolled students into PhD programs at the University of Queensland
  • Be Australian or international graduates
  • Hold a first-class Honours degree or equivalent Master’s degree 
  • Have a strong mathematical aptitude
  • Have a passion for global sustainability

Selection Criteria

Selection of the candidates will be done by the selection committee, based on the academic merit, research capability and research interest into this particular project.

Terms and Conditions
  • All the domestic and international students meeting the eligibility criteria are eligible for this scholarship.
  • Applying candidates should have a background in chemistry or chemical engineering with a preference for some background in polymer science.
  • Applying candidates should be comfortable with ambiguity of this challenging, wicked issue of tackling marine plastics.
