The eligibility requirements for the various study programmes are as follows:
- Master's Program:
- The applicant must be less than 40 years of age as on 01.09.2019.
- He/she must hold a bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree by 31.08.2019.
- Doctoral Program:
- The applicant must be less than 40 years of age as on 01.09.2019.
- He/she must hold a master's degree or an equivalent degree by 31.08.2019.
- Research Program:
- The applicant must be less than 45 years of age as on 01.09.2019.
- He/she must hold an invitation from one of the National Institute of International Education (NIIED's) designated Korean university.
- The applicants must have the following qualifications relevant to the proposed study:
- Post-doctoral Research Program: They must hold a doctoral degree or an equivalent level of education by 31.08.2019.
- Professor Exchange Program: They must hold a masters degree or an equivalent level of education by 31.08.2019.
- Program for Education, Science, Culture (International Professionals): They must hold a masters degree or an equivalent/higher level of education by 31.08.2019.
Benefits
The selected scholars will receive the following benefits:
- Airfare for entry into Korea at the commencement of the scholarship and return to the home country at the end of the scholarship.
- A settlement allowance of KRW 200,000 (One-time, offered at the time of entry into Korea)
- A monthly allowance of KRW 900,000 to Master's and PhD program applicants and KRW 1,500,000 to research program applicants
- A research allowance of KRW 210,000 to Liberal Arts and Social Science majors and KRW 240,000 to Natural Science and Engineering majors
- Full waiver of the fee for Korean Language Training for one year.
- Full tuition fee waiver for degree program applicants
- Reimbursement of thesis printing fee up to a maximum of KRW 500,000 for Liberal Arts and Social Science majors and KRW 800,000 for Natural Science & Engineering and Arts, Music and Sports majors.
- Medical insurance of KRW 20,000 per month
- Korean proficiency grant of KRW 100,000 (one-time for applicants who have achieved the TOPIK level 5 or 6)
- Degree completion grant of KRW 100,000 (one-time for applicants to return to their home country)
Note: Korean proficiency grant, Korean language training fee, Degree program tuition, and Thesis printing fee is only given to scholars pursuing a degree.

- Mark sheets and certificates for Higher Secondary Examination
- Transcripts of the applicants higher qualifications
- Bachelors/Masters/Doctoral degree or equivalent
Note: The size of any document shall not exceed 530 kb and should be in .pdf format, In case, the applicant is required to submit two documents in one option, the documents need to be scanned together as one and then submitted.

Selection Criteria
The selection procedure involves the following steps:
- Shortlisting of applicants on the basis of the application
- The application screening and evaluation will be based on the following criteria:
- Academic transcript
- Personal statement
- Statement of purpose or Research proposal
- Letters of recommendation
- Certificates of language proficiency, publications, awards etc.
- Comprehensive medical examination
- The merit list will be drawn out by giving weightage to Centrally Funded Educational Institutions (CFEI's), Institutions of National Importance and NAAC accredited institutions from where the applicant has completed his/her qualifying examination.

- Employed applicants must obtain a 'No Objection Certificate' from their previous employer and in case of a government employee, a cadre clearance is mandatorily required.
- Stating false facts in the application form or purposely hiding facts will lead to disqualification.
- The subject fields included in the program are:
- Korean Language and Literature
- International Relations (including Korean Studies)
- Biotechnology
- Electronic engineering
- A total of 15 applicants will be selected out of which ten students will be awarded the scholarship by the Government of the Republic of Korea.
- There are 3 levels of study available through the scholarship constituting the Master's, Doctoral and Research level studies.
