About The Program

International Doctoral Research Scholarships New Zealand (NZIDRS) 2017 invites application for the Ph.D. applicants with the objective of attracting and retain the best international researchers to New Zealand. This scholarship is a Government funded scholarship, administered by Education New Zealand and given to the 8 applicants and the selected applicants will get full tuition fees and a living stipend for up to 3 years.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
  • Applicants must hold a minimum grade equivalent to a GPA of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale or an A to A+ average in most recent or highest post graduate tertiary qualification.
  • Applicants must have a confirmed, non-conditional offer of a place for a (direct-start) Ph.D. program at a New Zealand university.
  • If applicants have commenced their Ph.D. studies in New Zealand, their start date must be after 01 July 2016.
  • Applicants must conduct their Ph.D. study in New Zealand (not from a distance).
  • Applicants must not hold citizenship or PR status in New Zealand or Australia.

Terms and Conditions

Documents to be attached:

  • Evidence of citizenship for every country for which you hold citizenship.
  • Evidence of an unconditional offer of a place for a Ph.D. program from a New Zealand university.
  • Academic transcripts, grading scale and certificates of completion.
  • Curriculum Vitae.

Selection Procedure:
The applicants are awarded based on academic excellence and the impact of the Ph.D. research for New Zealand.

The value of the scholarship:
This program will cover the following for a total of 3 years (36 months):

  • New Zealand University annual tuition fees and associated applicant levies.
  • An annual living stipend of  NZ $25000 per year (tax-free).
  • Medical insurance coverage up to NZ $600 annually.
