About The Program
INST Research Internship Programme 2022 is an opportunity offered by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) [an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology] to students pursuing a master's degree. It is an exceptional opportunity for good undergraduate students to execute an innovative research and development project under the guidance of the INST faculty. The selected candidates will receive a certificate after satisfactory completion of the training.

To be eligible, an applicant must -
- Be a full-time registered student from Basic Sciences/Applied Sciences/Engineering Institutes/Universities pursuing a master's degree/M.Sc./M.Tech./M. Pharm. degree
Note - In cases of bachelor's degree level students (e.g. B.Sc./B.Tech./B.Pharm. degree etc.), only very few exceptional and bright candidates will be considered for the internship program at INST.

The eligible candidates can apply for the fellowship through the below-mentioned steps -

Note - The applicants can go through the profiles of INST scientists and then decide their preference according to their research area and area of interest.

Short Term (3-6 Months): June-December (Date of application: 1st April to 21st April - every year)
Short Term (3-6 Months): January-June (Date of application: 1st Nov to 21st Nov - every year)
Research Internship (1 Year): Last date of application: (Applications are accepted around the year)

- Preference will be given to the students for research internship who have their own fellowship awarded from KVPY, BIRAC, IASc-INSANASI Summer Research Programme, Inspire Programme (DST) or any other agency of Govt. of India.
- The selected candidates will be intimated via email for admission to the INST Research Internship Programme.
- No Dues Form to be submitted at least three days before the date of completion of internship along with a copy of the research internship report duly signed by the candidate and faculty supervisor).
- Contacting multiple scientists at the same time at INST should be avoided. This will lead to the notion of unclear research interest of the candidate and ultimately may lead to rejection of the application.
