About The Program
Inlaks Research Residency Program, South Africa 2025 is an opportunity provided by the Inlaks Foundation in collaboration with NIROX Foundation and the Centre for Indian Studies in Africa at the University of the Witwatersrand. It offers a valuable opportunity for Indian artists to research, experience and practice their art. Selected candidates will receive a reimbursement of travel costs and other benefits.
EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be an Indian citizen residing in the country
- be born on or after 1st January 1990
- be proficient in the English language
- not have received any prior grant from the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation for any other overseas project
Note:-
- The applicant may be an emerging or mid-career Indian artist.
- An applicant with a practice in contemporary visual art working in all disciplines may apply.
Benefits
Selected candidates will receive:-
- 6 - 7 weeks of residency
- Living arrangements
- Travel and production costs
Additionally, the residency will enable the candidates to:
- Engage with local artists, communities, and educational institutions,
- Connect with individuals and places of interest,
- Interact with residents, artists, and events,
- Develop practice through exhibitions, studio visits, and interviews,
- Participate in media production, including podcasts and photography.
