1. What is the Procedure to Apply Online?
Candidates have the option of submitting application in Physical format or e-application for a particular Entry. Candidate can only apply in one of the formats as mentioned above. Receipt of multiple applications from the same candidate for the same entry will result in cancellation of candidature.
Whilst filling of the e-application, it is advisable to keep the relevant documents readily available to enable the following:-
(a) Correct filling up of personal particulars. Details are to be filled up as given in matriculation certificate.
(b) Fields such as e-mail address, Mobile Number are mandatory and need to be filled.
For filling a application online visit our website www.nausena-bharti.nic.in and proceed as follows:-
(a) Click on the "Officer/ Sailor Entry" button under the option Apply Online.
(b) Fill the online application form. Tips to assist in filling up fields have been provided as you highlight each field.
(c) Before clicking the Submit button it should be checked whether all the details entered in the form is correct because you will not be able to make any corrections after saving the record.
(d) After submitting the form, a Roll Number will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen. This roll number will get printed automatically on the print out of the online application form. If the system does not generate the Roll Number, it is an indication of non-acceptance of Application by the system.
(e) Candidates are required to print two copies of the Application form with the system generated Roll Number. One copy of this Application is to be duly signed and sent by ordinary post to the Post Box assigned corresponding to your state along with the relevant documents as specified in the advertisement for the particular entry.
Note:
1. Final receipt of the printout of the Online Application Form with system generated Roll Number and all relevant documents as specified for the entry, will be the final CONFIRMATION of receipt of your Application at IHQ MoD(N).
2. Your application is subject to subsequent scrutiny and the application can be rejected, without assigning reasons, if found INELIGIBLE at any point of time. Hence, only filling the application online/generation of Roll No does not indicate that the candidate has fulfilled all the criteria given in the advertisement.
3.Application and requisite enclosures must be properly tagged/stapled. IHQ MoD(Navy) will not be responsible for loss of enclosures of documents not attached properly.
2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING MARKS COLUMN FOR CANDIDATES WITH GRADING SYSTEM/ CGPA GRADES.
If you have CGPA/ grading system for evaluation in your University, then fill the marks column as per instructions given below.

1. Take out your University Approved Conversion Chart for conversion of your grades to percentages.
2. Compute your semester wise percentages based on the formula used by your University.
3. Note down all your semester wise percentages carefully.
EXAMPLE:
Candidate A has grading system for evaluation in his University. He has secured the following grades in his 04 years of study.

As explained, candidates should fill in the marks accordingly.
3. Instructions in case of application number not displayed by system.
If you are unable to generate an application number, then please ensure the following:-

1. Ensure that the size of the photograph that you are uploading is less than 10kb in size.
2. The photograph can be resized using any standard Microsoft photo editor tool.
3. Ensure that the antivirus of your system is not blocking any of the pop-ups given by our website.
4. The system through which you are filling up your e-application form should be free from any viruses, worms, trojans, etc.
5. If still there is an error in generating the application number, then you can either change your browser or reset your internet browser.
4. What is the Procedure of Recruitment of Sailors in the Navy?
Recruitment of sailors in the Navy is application based and is carried out on the All India Merit on the basis of a Written Examination, Physical Fitness Test and Medical Examination. To make recruitment candidate friendly, the recruitment schedule is designed to cater for enough preparation time for the candidates and results are announced on the same day. Recruitment publicity is carried out on all India basis through advertisements in all leading National & Regional newspapers and Employment News. Publicity material is also despatched to a large number of schools / colleges and all Zilla Sainik Boards. The local administration carries out the publicity drive in rural / backward areas through local media. The various entries, for recruitment of sailors, are as follows:-
(a) Artificer Apprentices (AAs) - 10+2 (PCM).
(b) Senior Secondary Recruit(SSR) - 10+2(PCM)
(c) Matric Entry Recruits - Matriculation.
(d) Non Matric Entry Recruits - Below Matric.
5. I have passed matriculation, how can I join the Navy as a Sailor?
You are eligible to apply for Matric Recruit and Non Matric Recruit (MR and NMR) where you can join as Stewards, Cooks and Topass.
6. What is Artificer Apprentice Entry in the Navy?
Artificer entry is open only to Male candidates between the age of 17 to 20, with an Educational Qualification of 55% or more marks in aggregate in 10+2/ equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
7. What is Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) entry in the Navy?
SSR entry is open only to Male candidates between the age of 17 to 21 who have passed 10+2/ equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
8. What type of questions can I expect in the written exam for sailor entry?
The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and of objective type. The question paper will comprise of four sections for Artificer Apprentice, Senior Secondary recruit entry and Matric recruit entry i.e. English, Science, Mathematics and General Knowledge and will be of 60 minutes duration. In case of Non Matric entry the question paper will comprise of two sections i.e. Mathematics and General Knowledge and will be of 40 minutes duration. The candidates are required to pass in all sections and in aggregate. The syllabus for each type of entry is given in the download section.
9. What am I expected to do in the Physical Fitness Test (PFT)?
Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test is mandatory for selection. PFT will consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes, 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Push-ups. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.
10. What is the Medical Standards that I am supposed to have ?
Entry level Medical standards are different for different entries. Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry.
11. What is the Selection Procedure for Sailor's Entry in the Navy?
The Selection Procedure is as follows: -
(a) The advertisement for a particular Sailor Entry is published in Employment News and leading national dailies.
(b) Application will be received only through ORDINARY POST. Application received through speed post/ registered post or couriers will be rejected.
(c) Short-listing criteria will be based on higher education and percentage of marks.
(d) Call up letters to eligible short listed candidates will be posted, indicating date, time and place for recruitment tests.
(e) All original certificates and mark sheets are to be produced at the time of written examination.
(f) Results of the Written Test will be announced on the same day.
(g) Those who qualify Written Test will undergo PFT and Medical Examination.
(h) Candidates declared Medically Temporary Unfit in the initial recruitment medical examination can avail specialist review from the specified Military Hospital within a maximum period of 21 days. No further review/appeal is permissible.
(j) Candidates declared Medically Permanent Unfit in the initial recruitment medicals can appeal for specialist opinion in a Military Hospital within 21 days on payment of Rs. 40 /- by Military Receivable Order (MRO) on Government Treasury. (Medical fitness certificate other than that of the specialist opinion in the designated Military Hospital will not be considered). No further review/appeal is permissible.
(k) The select list will be prepared from the candidates who qualify in all respects depending upon the available vacancies. The centre wise select list of candidates (depending upon the numbers to be inducted) will be displayed at the respective Recruitment Centres on the promulgated date. All candidates whose names appear in the Select list and have been declared medically fit in the Recruitment Medical would be required to report to INS Chilka. However, enrolment will be subject to clearing Final Enrolment Medical at INS Chilka.
(l) The candidature of candidates selected is valid for the current batch only.
(n) Offer of enrolment will be forwarded only to medically qualified candidates in the select list. Unsuccessful candidates will not be intimated separately.
12. I have applied for SSR and AA entries a number of times but I do not get a call letter?
You might not have received the call letter due to any of the following reasons:-
(a) Application not received in time by us.
(b) Application incorrectly filled.
(c) Application not shortlisted.
13. Do I get another chance if I am rejected during final medicals at Chilka?
There is no provision for another chance to a candidate rejected after final medicals at Chilka.
14. How many years do I have to serve to get a pension?
You have to serve for a minimum period of 15 years in the Senior Secondary Recruitment /Matric Recruit /Non Matric Recruit entry and a period of 20 years in the Artificer Apprentice entry to qualify for pension.
15. Will I get my salary the moment I join the Navy?
You will be paid from the day you are enrolled in the Navy. Your first salary may take a while to be paid to you as there will be requirement of submitting certain documents and open a bank account.
16. Will I be provided with a free warrant at the time of joining at Chilka?
You will not be provided any free warrant for the journey from your home station to Chilka at the time of joining. However the cost of second class train fare will be reimbursed to you if you produce the original ticket at Chilka on clearing the final medicals.
17. What do I do with the MRO handed over to me along with my review medical forms?
You have to deposit Rupees Forty in cash at the main branch of State Bank of India in your city in the account of CDA (Navy) Mumbai. The bank will acknowledge the receipt. You are to submit the receipt at the medical hospital, you have been directed to report along with your medical review certificate.
18. Do I need to do anything after I get myself physically checked after review medicals?
You don't have to do anything. You have to wait for the declaration of the merit
19. What are the documents that I should carry when I come for written Exam?
You should have the original certificate of 10th Pass certificate, 12th mark sheet and Pass certificate, Domicile certificate and NCC certificate(if in possession).
20. How often do you conduct open recruitment rallies and who is eligible to appear?
Recruitment in the navy is an application based system. Open recruitment rallies are generally not conducted. Only in case the response from a state is poor in the application based system that we carry out rallies for which advertisements are published in the national dailies. The rallies are open to the candidates possessing domicile certificate of the state in which the rally is being conducted or as promulgated in the advertisement.
21. How Often Will I Get Promoted?
The promotion till the rank of a 'Leading' is on a time scale basics. The promotion to Petty Officer and Chief Petty Officer is vacancy based and the promotion to Master Chief Petty Officer I class and II class is by selection. All promotions are subject to your clearing the required qualification course /exams on time and meet the sea service, physical and medical requirement for your branch.
