About The Program
Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) Post-Doctoral Fellowships 2024 is an opportunity offered by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Banglore, to Ph.D. degree holders in Physical/Mathematical Science. The selected candidate will receive a monthly fellowship of up to ₹ 54,000 and other benefits.
EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be below 36 years of age
- hold a Ph.D. degree in Physical or Mathematical Sciences at a recognised institution/university
- have completed the thesis defence at the time of application
- have significant overlap of research experience with the current research activities in the institute
Note: The candidates who have submitted their thesis will not be considered under this scheme.
Benefits
The selected fellows will receive a monthly fellowship in the below-mentioned manner:-

| Post-doctoral experience (1 to 2 years) | 49,000 |
| Post-doctoral experience (more than 2 years) | 54,000 |
The fellows will receive book grants up to ₹10,000 per annum, house rent, and medical facilities.
Note:- IIA has limited accommodation for PDFs that will be provided subject to availability.

How can you apply?
Eligible applicants can apply for the fellowship by following the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required details to the 'Register' button (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Create an Account' section.
Step 4: Create an account using Username and Email ID to pre-register and click on the 'Submit' button
Step 5: Once pre-registration is done, navigate to the 'Login' section.
Step 6: Login using the valid credentials (username and password).
Step 7: Fill in the application form and click on the 'Submit' button.
Important Dates
The applications will be accepted four times a year, with deadlines for applications fixed on January 31, May 31, and September 30.
Selection Criteria
Terms and Conditions
- The fellowship is for two years with the possibility of an extension for one more year.
- The applications will be reviewed every quarter, in the first week of January, April, July, and October.
