About The Program

IKS Post Doctoral Fellowship 2025-26 is an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India for Ph.D. degree holders. The main aim of this program is to initiate a process of training future scholars to balance and sustain future innovations. Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS ) is designed to encourage and fund young scholars to conduct impactful research that will contribute to the research mission of the IKS Division. The candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,00,000 and other benefits.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • be an Indian citizen/Overseas citizen of India (OCI)
  • be holding a Ph.D. degree from a recognised university (candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting the degree conferral are also eligible, but if selected, their fellowship amount will be lower until the degree is awarded)
  • be below 35 years of age at the application 

Note: 

  • 5 years age relaxation is available for SC, ST, OBC and Physically Challenged and women candidates.
  • The fellowship can only be received once in a candidate's career.
  • Independent researchers without an institutional affiliation and students currently enrolled in UG or PG programs are not eligible.
Benefits

The selected candidates will receive the following benefits:  

  • A monthly stipend of ₹1,00,000
  • A contingency grant of ₹2,00,000 per annum 
  • A conference travel and publishing costs of ₹1,00,000 per annum 

Note:- 

  • PI or Co-PI salaries/honorariums are NOT supported.
  • The contingency grant will be used only for small pieces of equipment and research supplies.  
  • The contingency grant is not meant for hiring research assistants or other staff.  
  • The fellowship is designed for the researcher to work independently on their project throughout its duration.

  • Note:-  Preference will be given to the proposals that have ideation towards the solution to the contemporary problems.

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-

Step 3: Click on the ‘Apply’ button. 
Step 4: Fill in the required details in the Google form.
Step 5: Click on the area of study click on next and fill in the required details.

Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions:

  • The fellowship award will go directly to the organisation or institution where the fellow is working.
  • This fund can’t be used for making new buildings, buying vehicles, setting up new labs or offices, or purchasing furniture. It can be only used for research-related expenses.
  • If there's a need to move the funding to a different institution, that can only happen if the IKS Division gives its explicit approval beforehand. 
  • A fellow can’t accept a fellowship while receiving an IKS fellowship.
  • Any purchases made with the fellowship funds need to follow the standard government purchasing rules (GFR).
