About The Program

IIT Madras Post Doctoral Fellowship is inviting applications from women holding a PhD degree with a break in their career. The fellowship aims at providing them with an opportunity to restart their career in the field of research which they had to leave due to any personal/professional reason.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Always Open

An applicant must hold a PhD degree in any of the fields of Engineering, Department of Aerospace, Applied Mechanics, Biotechnology, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical, Engineering Design, Mechanical, Metallurgical & Materials and Ocean and in the departments of Chemistry, Humanities & Social Sciences, Management Studies, Mathematics and Physics.

Benefits
  • A monthly stipend between INR 30,000-35000 (Consolidated).
  • Married women are eligible for HRA of INR 9,000 per month, in case they are not provided accommodation within the campus.
  • A second-class AC return train ticket.
  • A suitable accommodation will be provided as per the IIT norms.
Documents
  • Photocopies of the Rank certificates
  • Abstract of the PhD thesis
  • Any other awards/distinctions obtained
  • Caste certificate if belongs to SC/ST/OBC
  • Medical Certificate if physically challenged
  • A two-page write-up on the project work intended at the IIT Madras.

Important Dates

The scholarship is open throughout the year and the candidates will be intimated about the availability by the respective departments, once they receive their application.

Terms and Conditions
  • The duration of fellowship varies from 2 to 6 months.
  • The fellowship will consist of 2 to 3 visits, each visit not less than two months.
  • After the first visit, the respective department at its discretion can extend the fellowship duration to one year.
  • There is no age limit to apply for this fellowship.
