About The Program

ICDE Fellowship Programme 2026-27 is offered by the Institute for the Cooperative Digital Economy at The New School. This prestigious fellowship is designed to support outstanding researchers examining how cooperatives, unions, and solidarity-economy organisations engage with digital systems, including artificial intelligence and data-intensive infrastructures. Selected fellows will receive variable benefits.

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • be a Ph.D. candidate, post-doctoral researcher, junior or early-career faculty member, or have equivalent research experience
  • have engagement with, or clear plans to engage, specific cooperatives, unions, federations, or collective initiatives as part of their research process
  • have a clear research question grounded in real-world cases
  • have the capacity to contribute to a collaborative cohort and shared outputs

Note: Be able to attend the Platform Cooperativism Consortium Conference in person (November 12-15, 2026, Bangkok, Thailand)

  • This is a non-residential fellowship with remote participation throughout the year.

  • Research must be empirically grounded and comparative in nature.
