About The Program

IARC Post Doctoral Fellowships for Training in Cancer Research 2019-20 invites applications from early career scientists who wish to complete their training in different aspects of cancer research related to the mission of agency. The fellowship covers disciplines like epidemiology (including all disciplines), bioinformatics, biostatistics and areas related to the mechanisms of carcinogenesis such as molecular genetics, cell biology, molecular pathology, and epigenetics.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
An applicant must -
  • Have obtained a doctoral degree in the 5 years preceding the start of the fellowship or be in the final year of PhD studies with the degree being awarded by the time he/she starts the fellowship
  • Be proficient in the English language at a level sufficient for scientific communication
Note: The candidates who are currently at IARC as fully-funded postdoctoral scientists or have worked at the agency as a postdoctoral scientist for a period greater than 6 months are not eligible to apply.

  • A description of the programme in not more than 200 words
  • Proposed research proposal in 2-3 pages
  • Names and addresses of 3 refereed (include the persons who are familiar with the candidate's professional work like the present supervisor)
  • Recent passport-size photograph of the applicant

Terms and Conditions
  • The working languages at IARC are French and English.
  • The fellowships are tenable at IARC in Lyon, France working in a research group.
  • The fellowship is available for a duration of 2 years, in which the availability of fellowship for the second year is subject to the satisfactory appraisal of the candidate.
  • The applicants are expected to contact their host group at IARC prior to applying for the scholarship in order to interact closely to establish a proposed programme of mutual interest. 
  • While applying for the fellowship, the applicants are required to click on "save and continue" button to save the information entered. In case, the applicant closes the application form without saving the information, they have to restart filling the form.
