About The Program

I am the Change Fellowship is a 2 year paid fellowship program for any undergraduate or postgraduate professionals below 40 years old with 0 to 20 years of job experience.

During the fellowship period, every fellow will be allocated a unique project in the educational sector which they need to complete within their fellowship period.

The idea behind the fellowship program is to encourage top talents in the country to dedicate two years for the country, for the needy. That's way, they can channelize the talents and potential towards the needy and increase the pace of change.

  • Passionate and ready to work for the community for next 2 years.
  • Minimum 3 years full-time UG Degree.
  • Below 40 years old.
  • Ready to work in Chennai for minimum of 2 years.

Time Period

There are five batches of Fellowship in 2016:

  • May 2016 to April 2018
  • June 2016 to May 2018
  • July 2016 to June 2018
  • Aug 2016 to July 2018
  • Sep 2016 to Aug 2018

Stipend

  • Rs 15000 per month

Time Commitment

  • 6 days a week
  • Regular Leave Policy applicable (Project demand applicable)

Fellowship Model

They have designed fellowship in such a way that maximum impact is created in the community they work with. This means that the fellows will encounter new situations and learn something new every single day.

Their Fellowship will broadly move through the following steps:

Role of a Fellow

Every fellow of I am the Change fellowship program will be allocated a project with clearly mentioned targets. The fellows will work on the project to achieve his/her targets before the end of their fellowship period.

Every fellow will be allocated a mentor who would guide and help the fellow throughout the fellowship program.

The fellows will have quarterly review meetings, mid year reflection point and annual result meetings to reflect upon their work.

Apart from the project work, every fellow will have a learning goal to be met every quarter.

The fellowship projects for 2016-2018 are as follows::

2 Contest for a Cause (C4C) Conduct C4C in various schools and encourage children to donate their prize money for a social cause.
3 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Collaborate with various corporates and engage their employees in various volunteering activities.
4 Technology Build/maintain Websites, mobile apps, internal applications for Team Everest. Also maintain our Social media account, blogs and increase the digital presence of Team Everest.
5 Kindness Club Establish 'Kindness Club' in schools and colleges and encourage youth to volunteer at least once a month.
6 Digital Literacy Conduct 'Digital Literacy' course for children and make them digitally literate
7 Help a Kid Read Conduct 'Help a Kid Read' program for children and help them read 'English' better.
8 Chennai Flood Rehabilitation Work for the people/students who are affected by Chennai flood in Dec-2015 and help them live a better life.
9 Kindness Challenge and Kindness Marathon Conduct 'Kindness Workshops' in schools, colleges and corporate to encourage students to practice kindness and do volunteering.
10 Everest Talent Search Competition (ETSC) Conduct ETSC in schools who get less opportunity to expose their talents. ETSC will provide them a platform.

What is the duration of Fellowship?

Is there any stipend?

Yes, the stipend is Rs 15,000 per month. Project related travel and phone expenses will be reimbursed.

Why does the Fellowship last two years? Can I be a fellow for just one year if I choose?

The idea behind the fellowship program is to encourage top talents in the country to dedicate at least two years for the country, for the needy. Projects will be designed in such a way that it would require a minimum of two years to understand the project, work on it and achieve targeted results. Hence every fellow should serve for the mandatory period of two years. Team everest strongly encourage potential fellows to think about the time commitment and apply.

How many Fellows does I am the Change currently have?

This is the first year of I am the Change Fellowship. They have 4 fellows as part of this fellowship now. More fellows are expected to join in 2016.

What would be my role during the fellowship period?

Every fellow will be allocated a project with clearly mentioned targets. The fellows will work on the project to achieve their targets before the end of their fellowship period.

Is it mandatory to stay in Chennai during the fellowship period?

Yes, it's mandatory to stay in Chennai during the fellowship period since all the projects are Chennai based.

Do I need to know Local Language Tamil?

Knowing Tamil gives you an added advantage.This is because, you will be working with professionals and children from educational institutions as part of your project. However, some of the projects mentioned does not require knowledge of local language.

Can I work from my home during fellowship?

This program is to work on the ground, interacting with people, guidance from mentors and achieve targets for the allocated projects. So work from home will not be the best option to learn things in this course.

If I can't apply to the Fellowship now, can I apply at a later date?

The last date to apply for 2016 batch is Aug-15, 2016.

The application window will be opened every year by December. You can choose to apply for it once you are ready to part of our journey!

How will I get notified about my selection?

You will be notified through email.

If selected when should I join the team?

They have 5 batches of fellows joining. The joining dates are May-1, June-1, July-1, Aug-1 and Sep-1, 2016. Fellows who get selected are expected to join the immediate batch closer to the date.

When will I get to know about my project?

You will get to know about your project during the first month of your fellowship program.

Can I choose the kind of project I am to do?

A Fellow have an option to choose a project of his/her choice. However, the final decision on the project you will work on will rest with Team Everest.

What are the various projects available as part of the fellowship program?

Will I be provided any accommodation cost apart from the stipend?

Unfortunately no, only stipend will be provided.
