About The Program

The Hiroshima University Global Doctoral Fellowship 2026 is offered by Hiroshima University. The fellowship is a prestigious program designed to support outstanding international doctoral students by providing an environment where they can focus on their research. Selected candidates will be employed as research fellows and receive a monthly salary of 144,000 yen per month along with research funds for the entire duration of their doctoral studies.

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • be an international student
  • be enrolled in a doctoral course Or
  • pursue a 4-year doctoral program at Hiroshima University in April 2026
  • Obtain the prospective advisor’s approval before applying
  • intend to be directly involved in creating science, technology, and innovation in Japan after earning their doctoral degree at Hiroshima University
  • Not receiving a Research Fellowship for Young Scientists from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, a Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship 
     
Benefits

The selected students will receive:

  • Employment as a research fellow at Hiroshima University
  • Monthly salary of 144,000 yen per month( approx. ₹82,898.61) for the duration of doctoral studies
  • Research funds ma aximum of 400,000 ( approx. ₹2,30,273.92)  yen per year (half period: 200,000 yen) to support their research activities
  • An environment conducive to focused research
  • Opportunities to develop as global leaders in science, technology, and innovation
