HFSP Long Term Fellowship 2025

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

• begin their fellowship between 1 April 2026 and 1 January 2027
• have completed a Ph.D. or a comparable doctoral degree with equivalent research experience before starting their fellowship and before 31 December 2026
• propose a basic, fundamental research topic within the field of life science that is distinctly different from their Ph.D. or previous postdoctoral work
• have at least one full-length, original research publication as a lead/single author, first author, or shared/joint author

Note:-

• Applicants must apply for a fellowship other than India (country of nationality).
• Applicants with dual nationality can apply to work at an institution in one of their countries of nationality, if they have never studied or worked in that country.

Selected candidates will receive a fellowship for 3 years (36 months), which consists of a living allowance, research and travel allowance, and child allowance and parental leave for fellows with children. This fellowship will be non-renewable.

Documents required during the submission of the letter of intent:

• Title of the proposed project
• Personal information (name, ORCID ID, email, degrees, short CV)
• Proposed host institution and host supervisor(s), and intended arrival date at the host institution
• Disclosure of any previous or current collaborations (if any) with the proposed host supervisor(s)
• Title and abstract of PhD thesis, and title and abstract of previous postdoctoral projects (if any)
• A summary of the proposed research plan
• Publication list of the applicant
• Additional publication information (e.g. authorship, contributions)
• Confirmation that the host supervisor(s) are aware of, and support, the application

Documents required during full proposal submission:

• Recommendation letter from the proposed host supervisor(s)
• Reference letters from two additional referees
• Contact information for the host institution's official and host supervisor(s) to enable access to the proposal
• A detailed proposed research plan
• A public summary of the proposed project (up to 2400 characters)
• Publication list of the applicant
• Additional publication information (e.g. authorship, contributions)
• Signatures of the applicant, the host supervisor(s), and the designated host institution official

Note:- The full proposal must contain completed sessions by the host supervisor(s) and referees must have submitted their sections, and be signed by them along with the host institution officials.
