About The Program

The Government of Australia in partnership with Deakin University, Australia invites application from master's and doctoral degree applicants for HDR Scholarship - Research Training Program Scholarship (RTP), Deakin University 2019. Funded by the Australian government, this Higher Degree by Research (HDR) scholarship offers multiple awards to both domestic as well as international students.

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Be enrolled in an HDR course at Deakin University
  • Not be receiving income from any source
  • Comply with the English language requirements of the University
  • Meet the minimum entry requirements of the course applied for
Benefits

The selected candidate will receive the following benefits under this scholarship -

  • A stipend of AUD 27,596 per annum (tax-exempted)
  • A relocation allowance ranging from AUD 500 to AUD 1,500
  • Overseas health coverage

How can you apply?

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship online through the following steps:

Step 1: Visit the 'How to apply' page. 
Step 2: The candidates applying in the areas of Arts and Education, Business and Law, Science, Engineering and Built Environment, and Frontier Materials need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) prior to formal application. 
Step 3: Refer to the guidelines specified for the application. 
Step 4: Prepare all relevant documents and follow the steps as specified.

Note: The respective faculty/institute will advise the applicants after reviewing their expression of interest for a formal application.

Application close dates:

  • Trimester 3, 2019: 3 November 2019
  • Trimester 1, 2020: 23 February 2020
  • Semester 1, 2020: 21 January 2020
  • Trimester 2, 2019: Now closed
Selection Criteria

The scholarship will be granted to students on the basis of the following factors - 

  • Academic merit
  • Research experience and publications relative to opportunity
  • Alignment with strategic research priorities
  • Supervisor experience/support

  • The stipend is paid for a maximum of three years (for doctoral students) and two years (for masters by research students).
  • This award cannot be transferred to another institution.
  • The awardees are expected to comply with all the regulations, statutes, procedure and policies of the university.
