About The Program

HDFC Educational Crisis Scholarship 2018 invites applications from students who are unable to bear the cost of education and are at a risk of dropping out due to a financial crisis. The key objective of the scholarship is to empower individuals who are socially and economically disadvantaged.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
  • The students studying in Class 6 to 12 in government aided or private schools.
  • The students pursuing undergraduate or post-graduate (full-time or part-time) degree or diploma courses in colleges or universities recognized under AICTE/UGC/State/Central government rules.
  • The students whose family is facing an unfortunate event/crisis which has occurred in the preceding two years.
Benefits

For selected candidates, the scholarship will cover the total annual school fee up to a maximum of INR 10,000 and college/university fee up to a maximum of INR 25000.

Documents
  • Verification form duly signed and stamped by the school principal/college dean/director.
  • Attested copies of last years' mark sheet
  • Two copies of address proof
  • Doctor's note (in case of illness)
  • Salary Slip (if any) 
  • Class 10/12 mark sheet 
  • Self-declaration of family income (for self-employed) OR income proof from the employer
How can you apply?

The application form can be submitted online only by following these steps:

Step 1: Visit the HDFC ECSS scholarship site here
Step 2: Then click on "To apply for ECSS, click here"
Step 3: Click on "Apply" and fill in all the required information and upload the supporting documents.
Step 4: Submit the application form

The application window will be open from 1st July to 15th August.

Terms and Conditions
  • The scholarship will be disbursed in the form of cheques/DDs.
  • The cheque/DD will be dispatched by HDFC bank by 30 October 2018.
  • The shortlisted students will receive a confirmation from HDFC bank on their registered numbers. 
  • The scholarship cannot be transferred in case of a change in school/college/university. 
  • All the documents that are required to be uploaded during the application should be in JPEG/PDF format with the file size not more than 15 MB.

Q. How will a crisis be defined?
A. The following scenarios will be considered under the ambit of a crisis (within preceding 2 years):

  • An incident where the student suddenly requires support.
  • A sudden death of parents or separation from them.
  • An unexpected loss of the job.
  • The onset of a life-threatening illness.
  • The death of a sibling.

Q. Is there a provision for existing ECSS scholars to re-apply?

A. The students need to re-apply and requalify for ECSS each year. The scholarship can be availed for a maximum of 2 consecutive years.
