About The Program

GTRE Bengaluru Graduate, Diploma & ITI Apprenticeship Training 2026 is a prestigious one-year apprenticeship opportunity offered by the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), Bengaluru — one of India's premier Defence R&D establishments functioning under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India. 

This walk-in interview-based programme is open to eligible Indian Nationals registered on the NATS/NAPS portal, offering them a chance to gain hands-on training in cutting-edge defence research and technology. Selected candidates will receive the monthly stipend as per government norms.
 

EligibilityDeadline Date: 06-Jun-2026

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • be an Indian National
  • be registered on the NATS portal (https://nats.education.gov.in) for Graduate/Diploma candidates, or on the NAPS portal (https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) for ITI candidates
  • have passed the qualifying examination in or after 2022
  • be a minimum of 18 years of age as of June 6, 2026
  • have passed qualifying exams as a regular candidate (no correspondence/distance education)

 And along with that, applicants must meet the following academic criteria,

Graduate Engineering (BE / B.Tech)

  • possess a Degree in Engineering or Technology.
  • a degree must be awarded by a statutory university, or by an institution empowered to confer such degrees under an Act of Parliament

Diploma (Engineering)

  • possess a Diploma in Engineering or Technology, or an equivalent qualification.
  • be awarded by a State Board of Technical Education, or recognised by the concerned State Government, or by the Central Government

ITI Trades

  • have passed out from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in the relevant trade
  • possess a valid certificate issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) in the respective trade

Non Technical

  • have a degree from a statutory university, or
  • have a degree from an institution empowered to award such degrees under an Act of Parliament

Note:

  • Candidates who have had training or job experience for a period of one year or more.
  • Candidates attaining the essential qualification are NOT eligible.
  • Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under any organisation are NOT eligible.
Benefits

Selected candidates will receive the following benefits: 

  • One year of hands-on apprenticeship training at one of India's top Defence R&D establishments
  • Stipend as per Government of India norms for the entire duration of training

Candidates must bring the following at the time of the walk-in interview (originals + one self-attested photocopy each):

  • NATS / NAPS profile printout
  • Academic marksheet
  • Degree / Diploma / ITI Certificate or Provisional Degree Certificate
  •  Aadhaar Card
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable — SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer)
  • Two recent passport-size photographs
  • Duly filled Registration Form (Annexure-I)
  • Signed Undertaking (Annexure-II)

Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Register on the 'NATS' portal (https://nats.education.gov.in) if you are a Graduate/Diploma candidate, or on the 'NAPS' portal (https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) if you are an ITI candidate.
Step 4: Download and fill in the Registration Form (Annexure-I) and Undertaking (Annexure-II) from the guidelines PDF.
Step 5: Self-attest all required documents and carry originals and one set of photocopies.
Step 6: Report at the walk-in interview venue —

CV Raman Nagar, Bengaluru – 560 093 — on June 6, 2026 (Saturday) by 9 AM.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected through a transparent process based on the following criteria: 

  • academic merit
  • written test and/or interview, or a combination of both
  • satisfactory verification of original documents

Note: GTRE reserves the right to adopt its own shortlisting criteria and is not obligated to call all eligible applicants for further rounds.

Terms and Conditions
  • Reservations will be applicable as per the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961. SC/ST/OBC candidates must produce relevant certificates from a Competent Authority.
  • Selected candidates must submit a valid Police Verification Certificate and a Certificate of Physical Fitness from an authorised Government Medical Officer before joining.
  • Selected candidates must execute a one-year apprenticeship contract as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.
  • No accommodation, transport, or travel allowance will be provided during the selection process or training.
  • Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
  • Completion of apprenticeship training does not guarantee employment at GTRE.
  • GTRE reserves the right to increase, decrease, or cancel vacancies without assigning any reason.
