About The Program

The Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership invites applications for its scholarship program 2019 from students in developing countries studying sustainable energy development. The institution provides a one-of-a-kind program which fosters the next generation of energy, climate and electricity sector specialists who will be prepared to tackle the challenges of the future. The selected applicants will undertake Masters-level studies and receive a scholarship of up to USD 23,000 per annum for 2 years.

The following applicants are eligible for the scholarship: 

  • Masters applicants in sustainable energy development
  • Must be pursuing full-time studies for at least one full school year beginning in autumn 2019
  • Students in the second year of a two-year program are eligible to apply, provided that they meet the above requirement
  • Be a citizen of a developing country/territory on the list of official development aid recipients
  • Should agree to return to their home country/territory after the completion of their studies to contribute to its development
  • Have a high academic background securing the top 20% position in their respective class
  • Is committed to sustainable energy development
  • Should be determined to advance his/her knowledge and understanding 
  • Has a history of community involvement

How can you apply?

Follow the steps to apply: 

Step 1: Create an account by filling the relevant details.
Step 2: Log-in to access the application form.
Step 3: Fill the application form as required.
Step 4: Attach all the necessary documents.
Step 5: Submit the application.

Selection Criteria

An independent Academic Panel consisting of accomplished representatives of notable academic institutions will review the applications and select the winners.

  • If the applicant has not received a letter of admission, he/she can upload an acknowledgement of receipt from his/her university showing that he/she has applied for admission.
  • If the applicants receive their official admission letter after the scholarship application deadline, it is their responsibility to forward it via email to scholarship@globalelectricity.org no later than April 19, 2019.
  • If the institute does not receive the applicant's official admission letter by the deadline, his/her application will not be considered.
  • If the application is for the second year of a two-year program, please include proof of enrolment.
  • If the language of the applicant's original transcript(s) is not English, the institute will require a certified translation of the document which includes the name of the translator as well as a copy of the original (untranslated) transcript.
  • If the application is for the second year of a two-year master’s program, the applicants need to include a transcript for their first year.
  • The academic reference form must be completed by a faculty member or professor at the applicants current or previous university who knows their academic abilities.
  • Should the referee wish to send their letter directly to the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership, they can send an email to scholarship@globalelectricity.org by March 8, 2019. If received, it will be indicated in the online application system after the applicant submits his/her application. 
  • Make sure that the referee includes the full name of the applicant in their letter.
  • The reference needs to be in letter form (with an official letterhead of the referee’s organization, if possible), written in English, and must be dated and signed by the referee.
  • An academic referee must be a faculty member or professor at the applicants current or previous university who knows his/her academic abilities. They cannot be the same person as the individual who completes the applicant's academic reference form. 
  • A personal referee should be a person who can discuss other personal qualities or interests that make the applicant specially qualified to receive the scholarship. This referee cannot be a family member.

Q. When is the application deadline? 
A.
The deadline to apply is March 8th,2019 (23:59 UTC- 05:00). The applicant should make sure that his/her application along with all the necessary documents attached with it and referenced are submitted by this date. Late applications will not be accepted. 

 

Q. Does my transcript need to be in English? 
A.
Yes, if the original language of the applicant's transcript isn't English, the institute will require a certified translation of the document which includes the name of the translator as well as the copy of the original (untranslated) transcripts. 

 

Q. If I am not selected, can I appeal the decision? 
A.
The deliberations of the academic panel are confidential. All decisions are final and not eligible to appeal.
