About The Program

Fulbright Nehru Post Doctoral Research Fellowships 2019-20 invites applications from PhD scholars for research at post doctoral level. The programme aims to provide opportunities to Indian faculty and researchers to strengthen their research capabilities by providing them with some of the excellent resources in their area of interests. 

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

The Fellowship program is open to following candidates: 

  • The applicant must have a PhD degree (between 16 July 2014 to 15 July 2018)
  • The applicant must demonstrate evidence of superior academic and professional achievement.
  • The applicant must be published in reputed journals.
  • The employed applicants must indicate that the leave will be granted for the fellowship period.

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Detailed Project statement
  • PhD degree certificate
  • Three reference letters
  • Letter of invitation
  • FNPostDoc Letter of support from home institution (if employed)

Step 2: Enter all the details and the candidates will get a new login id and password
Step 3: Login with the registered id and fill all the details and upload the necessary documents.
Step 4: Submit the application form.
Important Dates
  • 16 July 2018: Application due date for 2019-20 awards
  • August-September 2018: Field specific experts will review the applications
  • Mid-October 2018: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview in Delhi
  • Last October 2018: USIEF notifies principal and alternative nominees that they are recommended
  • December 2018: USIEF forwards recommended applications to J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship board for approval and placement
  • March-April 2019: USIEF notifies finalist
  • August-September 2019: Program begins.

Terms and Conditions
  • Applicants can apply for only one Fulbright Nehru Fellowship category during a competition cycle.
  • Plagiarism in the application may lead to disqualification of the candidature.
  • Extension and transfer of Visa sponsorship will not be permitted.
