United States- India Educational Foundation invites applications for Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships 2019 from PhD scholars registered at an Indian institute to carry out a pre-doctoral level of research at a US host institution. The duration of the fellowship is 6-9 months.
Note: Fellowships are for pre-doctoral level research. Applicants with PhD degrees or those at the final stage of PhD thesis submission will not be considered by the institution

Q. How applicants get information on Fulbright-Nehru and other Fulbright fellowships?
A. Announcements inviting applications for Fulbright-Nehru, Fulbright-Kalam and other Fulbright Fellowships happen in February every year.
Q. How many letters of reference/recommendation applicants require?
A. Depending on the grant category, applicants are advised to request two to three referees to send in their recommendations or complete those online by the application due date.
Q. How long does the review process take?
A. The review process takes three to four months after the application deadline.
Q. If selected, when can an applicant begin the fellowship in the U.S.?
A. For the 2019-2020 cycle, most Fulbright fellows will begin their grants in August/September 2019. Depending upon the fellowship category, some fellows could begin in January 2020. 2019-2020 Fulbright-Nehru fellows have to come into grant status no later than March 31, 2020.
