About The Program

Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State announces Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program 2018 for full-time teachers of any subject having five years of experience.The objective of this program is to provide a professional development opportunity to the teachers.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

n order to be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Be a full-time teacher having five years of teaching experience in any subject.
  • Hold a bachelor's as well as teacher training degree.
  • Be an Indian and residing in India during form submission and interview.
  • Have an excellent command of the English language.

Note:

  • Guidance counselors, curriculum specialists, special education coordinators, primary and secondary level library media specialists, administrators devoting half of their time in teaching or working directly with students will also be eligible.
  • Teacher trainers will also be eligible to apply.
  • The applicant must be living and teaching in the states like Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli
  • The applicant must commit to continuing teaching after completion of the program.

Terms and Conditions

Award details:

The fellowship will cover:

  • A pre-departure orientation held in India.
  • J-1 visa support.
  • A Welcome Orientation in Washington D.C.
  • Round-trip airfare to and within the U.S.
  • Housing (generally shared with other program fellows) and meals.
  • Academic program fees.
  • Transportation to the local school (if necessary).
  • Accident and sickness medical insurance coverage (does not cover pre-existing conditions).
  • A technology allowance.
  • A daily allowance for incidentals during the university academic program.
  • An end-of-program workshop in Washington, D.C., and
  • The opportunity to apply for alumni small grants for alumni in good standing.
  • A baggage allowance.​​
