About The Program

Embracing Our Differences Art Contest 2018 invites applications from artists, professionals, amateurs and students. The objective of the contest is to foster social change through visual art. The theme for the artwork is - 'Enriching lives through diversity and inclusion'.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
  • Anyone, from an artist, a professional, an amateur to a student, can participate in this contest.
  • Participants applying through the website of Embracing Our Differences or any related website must be at least 13 years old.
  • Participants under 13 years may enter through the mail. 
Benefits
  • A total of USD 3000 will be presented in the form of three separate awards - USD 1000 each for Best-in-Show Adult, Best-in-Show Student, and the People’s Choice.
  • A total of 45 submissions will be selected for inclusion in the exhibit at Bayfront Park in downtown Sarasota, Florida, USA. The judges may select an additional three entries for "honorable mention."

  • A digital file of the art contained on a CD or flash drive
  • A color print of the art submission (ink jet is sufficient) with your name and artwork title clearly printed on the back
  • A completed and signed submission form

For applicants above 13 years of age:

Important Dates
  • Submission deadline: October 15, 2018
  • Judging: Late November after the submission deadline
  • Those selected for inclusion in the exhibit will be notified by email by late December.
  • Exhibition: January 19 through March 15, 2019
Selection Criteria
  • The submission must be an original concept and execution
  • Final selections for inclusion in the exhibit will be made by a three-judge panel of professional artists, curators and art professionals
  • Selection will be based on artistic excellence and originality in the reflection of the theme
  • The effectiveness of the art when enlarged to billboard size and displayed outdoors
  • A clear understanding of the theme reflecting in the artwork

Terms and Conditions
  • The art must be horizontal in orientation
  • The art must be labeled with the title and the artist's name
  • The digital file (JPG, JPEG, TIFF, PDF or EPS) of the art must be a high-resolution image of no less than 300 dpi
  • The digital file of the art must be less than 400MB in size
  • The digital art must measure no less than 12.8 inches wide by 8.8 inches high, or if larger, it must contain the same proportions
  • Artists making more than one submission online must create a separate entry for each submission
  • Teachers may complete and submit art on behalf of their students and substitute their personal or school contact information for that of their student(s)
  • There is no submission or entry fee
  • There is no restriction on submitting art that has been previously submitted to Embracing Our Differences or any other competition

No. Only a digital file of the original artwork will be accepted.

Horizontal means that the applicant's art should be wider than it is tall. It is important because the artwork will be printed and displayed.
